Great for Fly Fishing or chilling in the countryside
From the moment you step in to Aberdare Cottages, something in you brightens up. The manager, the staff and everyone involved have a way of making you feel at home. If there was a time we needed a pleasant surprise it was this vacation break… the year had been rough coping with the pandemic! And thankfully we found one of the most beautiful of surprises. We spent a wonderful time in Aberdare Cottages with my four friends. The place is really peaceful in the middle of a valley – 8 km away from the Aberdare Park and along a river that could hear birds singing gently. There are moments that words do not adequately describe the serenity of a place and this is one of those times. Clean air, beautiful landscape and the warmth of a rustic and relaxing escape describe our stay. The Food was Kenyan cuisine and very tasty. I enjoyed the pumpkin soup the most. Drinking water is straight from the mountain and if water can ever be described as delicious it is here!! The staff at the lodge and the cottage were amazing and so helpful. We were later joined in by Aberdare Cottages’ tour guide called John. We a day fly fishing, boat riding, and hiking with him, he was a wonderful guide… unfortunately we did not catch that day but had a fabulous time trying!! John showed us plants that used to be used as soap and foam in water and explained how to pick and process the tea as we walked by tea plantations…. all in all a real true Kenyan experience with honest and sincere hospitality. At night it would get really cold, but the staff made sure we were all comfortable, they provided us with as many blankets as we needed, and hot water bottles! the best feeling ever I would certainly go back to feel the peace and tranquility that can never be felt in the busy cities.
