Dec 1976, Nairobi (Kenya), when constitution formally adopted by heads of 14 training institutions, following initiatives dating back to meeting, 1961, Moshi (Tanzania UR). Mode of operation decided at meeting of directors of communications training schools, 1974.

Aims

Promote journalism and communication education and develop communication resources in African countries; promote awareness among African governments, policy-makers and planners of the role of communication and the mass media in national development; improve quality of communication training and subsequently of communication in Africa; offer a forum for trainers to confer and to plan common training strategies; raise awareness on current issues among communication training institutes; assess common needs and generate common solutions.
