We enjoyed the scenery, plenty of open space and the waterfalls.
Long before white settlers broke ground in Kenya, the area today known as Thika Town was a stage for many internecine battles between the Maasai on the one hand, and the Kikuyu and Kambas on the other. The Thika and Chania rivers formed a natural boundary between these three tribes, the Kikuyu to the north, the Kambas to the east and the Maasai to the south. The Maasai outnumbered the other two tribes and were ferocious warriors; unbeatable in the plains and lower ground. Blue Post Hotel was built in 1908 and consisted of random undressed stone walls with coarse mortar joints, a makuti thatched roof on timber pole trusses and a rough cement screed floor. Located in Thika in the Central Region, 41 km from Nairobi, Blue Post Hotel features a barbecue and children’s playground. Guests can enjoy the on-site restaurant. Free WiFi is provided and free private parking is available on site. My inlaws requested us to have lunch here as we catch up and I must say it was a good idea to leave the hustle and bustle of Nairobi city. This place is so nice and breathtaking. The view of the waterfalls, there are actually two separate waterfall points, the sound of the water and the smell or the feel of the water droplets can never be experienced through any camera or video. One has to be here in person. The place also serves food, has ample parking, accommodation, a bar with various alcohol brands, curio shops, a small pond with a boat for hand paddling, a barber shop and saloon, and a nice garden that is good for family time and budding couples. Also, a good place for children to experience outdoor moments after school. We also visited the Nature Park that is open from 8:30 am – 6:30pm Our only problem was customer service was slow… it took an hour for our order to be ready! other than that, we enjoyed the delicious food that was presented.
