This sophisticated cocktail bar is smooth as silk, with vaguely retro curves in the decor and a fine list of cocktails to keep the well-to-do crowd happy. It kicks off the week in suitably sedate fashion with ‘Monday Blues’, then Tuesday is ‘Wine & Jazz’, Thursday is all about salsa and Friday is nostalgia all the way.

I don't know how I hadn't heard of it before.

This lounge is not spoken enough about. You don’t hear people from outside Westlands talking about Mercury lounge but for a fact, this is a must-visit. It is located some 20 minutes from Nairobi CBD and a cab costs about kes 250. I got to turn up there with my cousin. We were chilling and he suggested that we visit his “local club.” The first thing I noticed is how mature the audience is. It’s the type of place you can get to meet the guys who are coming up in Nairobi. The club set is great too. The music sounds good from any spot you choose to sit. I didn’t get a chance to taste their food but my cousin swore on it. The drinks are above average price but that’s the norm in Westlands. Overall, it’s was a different experience and you should try it.
