A favorite local for many people who work within Nairobi city. This is mainly due to its location and the friendly prices they offer. I have been to mwendwas a couple of times. Either to meet up with a friend after work or to turn up through the night. On all the times, I have had so much fun. They have two floors, which serves as ample space to some point. The downside is the poor ventilation when it gets full but other than that, this spot is great. It also gets packed quite fast, so it’s advisable to come early. They also serve the best cocktails in town. Hats off to their mixologist. It’s hard to get a bad review about mwendwas and that’s because it’s always a good time there. If you want to wind off after work, this is the place to go to.

Mwendas Pub is your typical local ; familiar faces and the bartender knows your favourite drink but doesn’t know your name. The local is located in the CBD making in the perfect place to unwind after a long day of work. It however misses the most important aspect of a local pub ; they sadly do not serve food. Regardless, the place is always bustling with customers. It has two floors of space although the total floor area is quite limited. The bar is located upstairs and the resident mixologist is situated here where he serves his legendary Long Islands to customers. The music is always good and loud enough for both floors. Mwenda’s Pub has a tiny parking lot that can only accommodate a few cars so I would recommend one to take a taxi, especially if you’re going to be drinking. The place gets quite full very fast so if you’re hoping to secure a table for you and your friends, I would suggest that you arrive early, say 7pm. The drinks are affordable and it is a place that I love going to on Fridays to have a drink after the long week. It is important to note that the pub has no air conditioning and very few windows, so it does get quite hot and uncomfortable especially when the place is full. So be sure to secure a table near a window so that you’re not all sweaty and uncomfortable! I would rate the place a 6/10.

Everybody needs a local joint. A place where you can meet up with your friends and have a few drinks without breaking the bank. For me, Mwenda’s Pub along Utalii Street, in the Nairobi CBD serves that purpose. You can always count on making wrong decisions when you drink at Mwenda’s. The cocktails are strong and never run dry. From the really imaginative names for their cocktails, you already know you are in for a wild night when you order them. So, make sure you use an Uber if you r planning on drinking there. With just a thousand shillings, you are guaranteed to have a good time. And that’s the charm of the place. Mwenda’s also has really good music and the DJs never disappoint; throughout the week they are on their A game. Due to the affordable drinks, good music and convenient location in the Nairobi CBD, Mwenda’s usually fills up really quickly and sometimes its almost impossible to get a seat. Mwenda’s is The People’s Local, and if you are planning on having some fun without breaking the bank, or planning to pregame before going to the more expensive clubs, then Mwenda’s is the joint for you.
