Nyeri Junior School

Nyeri Junior School is a well known elementary school located on the outskirts of Nyeri Town along the Nyeri-Chaka route in Mukaro constituency. This area is known as an education hub since it hosts other prestigious schools such as Nyeri Good Shepherd and Mt Kenya Academy therefore convenient in terms of location thus organized transport to and from the school for kids can be easily organized. It is a mixed day and boarding that offers education from grade 1 to grade 8, 8.4.4 education system curriculum. It is therefore a choice for the parent/guardian whether they prefer their child being a border or a dayscholar. The outstanding trait about this school is the fact that besides being a public school, the services and facilities offered here would make you mistake it for a private-owned entity and not a government school. The school is located on a huge area of land thus the usual presumed idea of public school seeming squeezed is out of question here. The first thing you will notice upon entry is the arched entrance far off at the end of the one-way road once you enter the main gate , the driveway towards the administration building is beautiful giving a view of two of the four fields on either side . The view of this driveway during the November December jacaranda shedding period makes the place even more beautiful. The classes are well spaced with each of streams of classes , usually 4 classes each having its own building. The amazing thing about this school has a swimming pool, which is quite rare for a public school. This owes to the fact that the school was initially a learning institution for European settlers during during the colonial period therefore its facilities are of high quality standards. Kids get to swim in the pool once a week as slotted in their timetables. The four fields namely the Hockey field, Main field, Junior field and Lower field provide ample space for the entire school population to enjoy field day/games day on Thursday and enjoyable P.E lessons. The school is equipped with a wide range of sports equipment giving kids a chance to venture in different sports such as badminton, shortput, discuss, netball, volleyball, football, javelin among other games thus promoting sports talents for your kids. Moreover, the school has a tennis court that provides suitable area for playing lawn tennis which I found quite exciting during my learning experience there in my childhood. Besides the facilities, the school has highly qualified teachers dedicated to offering holistic education ranging from class learning to psychological /counselling to outdoor learning e.g sports and extra curricular activities such as drama and music. The school always scores high means in external exams thus always securing top position ranks among numerous schools in Nyeri County. Students are always the cream with excellent marks in their K.C.P.E results with a huge fraction securing spots in the top national schools in the country.
