TOP TEN SUSHI SPOTS IN NAIROBI 2023

Nairobi has a plethora of culinary strong suits but only a few boast impressive and reasonably priced sushi offerings. Nairobi’s sushi scene is constantly growing and the restaurants that offer sushi do provide an unforgettable sushi experience and stellar service. Check out my favorite sushi spots in Nairobi 2023.

1.) TOKYO

Tokyo Restaurant is a beautiful green garden, Japanese restaurant located at Kolloh Road, Lavington Nairobi. Tokyo Restaurant is one of the best Japanese cuisine and Japanese-themed restaurants in Nairobi , so there is no doubt that they definitely make the best sushi.

Their facilities has ample parking space, a beautiful outdoor garden seating , beautiful playground for children, 4 teppanyaki tables for live cooking , a fully stoked bar and a cozy indoor seating area. They boast as among the top Nairobi restaurants with splendid customer service.

Tokyo Restaurant is open every Monday to Sunday from 12pm to 10pm .

My favourite sushi is their sashimi tempura set and for my recommendation , I beg of you to try out their crab in ginger sauce, it’s pressure!!

2.)GARNISH KE

Garnish Ke is a sushi cloud kitchen with the most incredible sushi flavors. I mean popcorn crunch , mango roll , and spicy veg sushi flavors sound so electric. Garnish Ke only accept a 24 hour pre-order to allow for ample time to make the freshest sushi get to you in the freshest way possible.

Garnish Ke offer nigiri sushi , sashimi ,makimono sushi rolls , vegetarian sushi rolls and sushi platters. For the sushi platters you can customize your platters and have to make this request while placing your order.

3.)DICKSON’S SUSHI KITCHEN

Dickson’s sushi is an Asian fusion restaurant with the freshest of fresh sushi that is available for house-call , office and home deliveries. Dickson sushi sticks to his vision of providing sushi for his sushi making passion.

Dickson can make any sushi and it’s easily the most magical thing about him and his sushi creations. He ensures quality is maintained and that your delivery gets to you in the freshest way possible.

Dickson’s sushi starts from Kshs.600 to Kshs. 2650. for a family platter . He can make sushi on request and has sushi making master classes depending on your needs.

4.)KAI THE SUSHI BAR

Kai the sushi bar is a mixture of authentic and fusion Japanese sushi restaurant and is located at the Saraya Lab , Marsabit Plaza . Their products are also available at Chandarana Yaya Centre, Chandarana Lavington Mall , Chandarana ABC PLace , Carrefour Westgate and Carrefour Sarit Centre.

Kai means a fateful meeting and they work with producers to find better ways to get food to the table and provide safe, secure and delicious food . Their vision to provide ensure happiness through quality food for everyone.

Kai is open from Monday to Sunday from 11am to 6pm and their sushi varies from Kshs. 150 to Kshs. 4100.

5.)MAWIMBI SEAFOOD

Mawimbi Seafood Restaurant and Café is a fine dining seafood restaurant located at Longonot Place , Kijabe Street .

Mawimbi has a raw food crudo bar menu that is one of the chef’s personal logs of culinary voyage that promises one the best culinary waves of flavor . The crudo bar is a food lovers amusement as it consists of sharing platters of sushi and seafood delicacies .

Mawimbi’s raw food products are prepared and packed fresh daily, using the most preventive and contact -free practices possible.

Mawimbi is open daily from 6am to 8pm and food and drinks cost Kshs.200 to Kshs.4190.

6.)ZEN GARDEN

Zen Garden Kenya is an ultimate venue captured in the scenic surroundings of Nairobi Spring Valley. Zen Garden is characterized by sheer beauty of the location , uncompromised quality of food and high level of service.

Bamboo Oriental is Zen Garden’s Asian cuisine kitchen that embarks on a culinary journey through the food regions of Japan, Thailand and China. Bamboo Oriental is an Asian themed restaurant which typically takes you to a full Asian sushi exploration.

Bamboo Oriental is open daily from 10am to 9pm .

7.)CHEKA JAPANESE IZAKAYA

Cheka Japanese is a Japanese style restaurant and bar located at Lavington that is run by Japanese founders which means you get authentic Japanese sushi , ramen and dumplings .

They offer sushi rolls at an affordable price and their prawn tempura sushi roll is my absolute favorite, it consists of crispy tempura , avocado , sugar syrup . Cheka have bento plates offer at Kshs. 1250 too .

Cheka open daily from 10am to 7pm and have collaborated with various brands like UberEats and Jumia food to delivery their delicacies to you .

8.)INCA RESTAURANT

Inca is a rooftop Peruvian melting pot restaurant and bar housed at The Social House . Inca is a distillation of Peru’s diverse culinary heritage with colorful Peruvian tones and live music . Inca are always on deck with the ebst Dj;s and la musica de latinoamerica .

Inca’s food items range from Kshs. 400 to Kshs. 20,000 ( angus beef tomahawk steak.)

Inca is opened daily , Monday to Sunday , from 1pm to 11pm and the open bar runs from 9pm till late .

9.)INTI-NIKKEI

Inti-Nikkei experience centers around the finest Nikkei cuisine . Inti is a dual experience with a singular vision to enjoy the Japanese and Peruvian fare in a unique contemporary urban environment in the heart of Nairobi.

Nikkei cuisine was born in 1889 when Japanese farmers moved to Peru to work in sugarcane fields. Lacking many of their traditional ingredients, they began using Japanese cooking techniques with Peruvian ingredients they could find locally. This gave birth to an inspiring and unique cuisine known as Nikkei.

Inti- Nikkei offers maki sushi rolls , veg maki sushi , sashimi , nigiri, and gunkan sushi all ranging from Kshs. 400 – Kshs. 2800. Inti is open everyday from 12pm to 10pm and have sundowners everyday from 4:30pm to 6:30pm.

10.)TALISMAN

Talisman is a haute dining restaurant blended with unbridled eclecticism situated in an old house in Karen. Talisman was originally occupied by the famous wildlife photographer Alan Root in his youth. It was then recreated as a small family and friendly kitchen restaurant .

Value for environment is part of the most important cultures at Talisman as evident from the ambience and look of the restaurant itself. Talisman offer sushi and sashimi from Kshs. 950 to Kshs. 1750.

Talisman is open on Tuesdays to Friday from 11am to 10pm , on Saturday its open from 9am to 10pm and on Sunday its open from 9am to 9pm . Reservations is highly recommended.
