Classy and finest dine-in restaurant in Nairobi

INTI-A Nikkei Experience is the finest restaurant I have been to so far in terms of ambience, food and dress code. Well yes, they have a strict dress code which I was quite surprised about and had luckily researched on the restaurant before making reservations for a New Year's dinner date with my two cousins last year so we weren't caught off guard. The restaurant is situated in Westlands Waiyaki Way on the 20th floor of the One Africa Place building. Once on the 20th floor there's actually a board showing the dress code rules. Upon entry, the waitress at the door confirmed our reservation for three and led us to our table. The interior is sooo beautiful with seats showing a marvellous view of Westlands and Nairobi through its glass walls since the building is really tall and towers over the rest. The well thought of architecture and the bamboo interior decor hanging from the ceiling at the bar lounge makes the place look both classy and unique. I had earlier been made aware that at Inti-A Nikkei, strict meal times are followed in that breakfast and dinner is served at specific times and no time before or beyond that so one should be aware of their meal times. We got there at around 7p.m which was within their dinner time frame so we got to order drinks and food. They specialize in Peruvian and Japanese cuisines hence its name Nikkei. Their meals are affordable but a bit on the upper side so be ready to spend quite a bit when you come here. We had their Inti Tiratido Peruvian dish which had an assortment of octopus and salmon and went for Ksh 1700, some Sushi, their Rising Inti roll and Beef Tenderloin. For a person who was trying Japanese and Peruvian dishes for the first time, their food is really delicious and I waa impressed by how well the food was made. For drinks we each had the glass Hakutsuru which was Ksh 1000 each. The place gets quite busy at night which wasn't a problem since their customer service is top tier. The marvellous view of Nairobi at night as you enjoy a delicious meal and great company at Inti-A Nikkei should definitely be added to your bucket list.

Coffee house with great customer service

Java House is one of the most frequented coffee houses in Kenya having numerous branches in not only Nairobi but also other towns like Naivasha, Nakuru, Kisumu, Nanyuki and Mombasa. Being one of the oldest coffee houses in Kenya marking around 21 years now, Java has earned the trust and popularity among many Kenyan citizens. So far, I have gotten a chance to visit their Garden City Mall, Koinange Street, Lavington and Naivasha town branch but really like the Lavington one most. Their Koinange Street branch is bit tiny and more squeezed than the rest so having ample space and distance between tables is minimal. Also, due to the crammed up space therefore less tables, one has to share tables with strangers at this Koinange branch making privacy impossible. This is why its my least favorite Java branch. The common thing about the Java outlets I've visited so far is the art-themed interior with African paintings and artistic portraits on their walls making the place look more beautiful and lively. My best thing about Java house is their lovely delicious milkshakes and fresh pastries. Their croissants and strawberry mirror cake are a must try. Besides coffee and breakfast, Java also has a great lunch/dinner menu. Their salads, grilled chicken burger and BBQ chicken are my personal favourites. Their staff is really friendly and really efficient so customer service here is really great. It is a great place to just chill on evenings as you sip a cup of their really good coffee and maybe get work done especially their Garden City branch which even on a busy say is reasonably quiet and gives me a chance to beat my end-week deadlines with minimal disturbance.

Fresh groceries and great bakery

Quick Mart has 10 outlets throughout Kenya situated in Nairobi, Kiambu and Nakuru. I've been to the Outlet in Kiambu and my shopping experience has always been enjoyable and satisfying. My first observation was that the parking lot was spacious and strategic however in some of their branches instance the one in Kahawa, parking space is limited. The only issue is that the cars use the exit as an entry and vice versa which is a bit chaotic at times. Quickmart has a variety of goods and supplies arranged in spacious well labeled aisles making it easy to search for whatever you are shopping for while also considering the social distancing rules. It's convenient for your everyday household needs and supplies as well being a cool place for meet ups for meetings for it holds a nice restaurant in the Supermarket. The restaurant offers a variety of food and drinks. My favorite is the Chicken wings which are to die for. Their bakery section is yet to disappoint with their well-baked cakes of different flavours and toppings. The attendants are very disciplined, kind and ready to offer a helping hand to the customers. Cashiers are friendly and fast at the checkout with staff quick and efficient in the packing of one's goods. Overall, it's a nice satisfying shopping experience.

Chaka Ranch Leisure Park located in the surburbs of Nyeri County at a small town called Chaka, is the ultimate fun out of town getaway for you and your family or friends. After an exhausting semester, a couple of friends of mine and I decided to visit Chaka Ranch and I must say the journey and experience was worth it . When we got there, the gate was closed with a guard on standby to usher as in since they don't leave the place open for outsiders to just enter. We were warmly welcomed into the grounds and what surprised me was how extensive the area covered by Chaka Ranch is. Payment for activities here is only via Mpesa so it is good to come ready in order to avoid a trip back into Chaka town to deposit money into your mpesa account. There are so many activities to try out here which makes it a great place to visit with a couple of your friends or family and it is also a great place for team building. The activities available here are the Action Arena, the water park experience, skating, go-karting, quad biking and paintballing. My personal favorite was the quad biking which I'd longed to try for sooo long. The arena experience was quite fun because we were 12 in total making the activities all the more exciting and fun. At the water park they have slides and a really huge pool . Unfortunately we didn't carry our costumes that day so I got really disappointed that I didn't get a chance to take a dip in their nice sizeable pool. Carry your costumes people! You do not wanna miss out on such an experience like we did. Go karting charges here are at Ksh 2500 and sooo much fun. While here, it is better to have your lunch outside in some of the food joints in Chaka Town eg. The Mt Kenya Safari Halt Hotel where we had some really good beef wetfry, fries and ugali. The whole experience at Chaka Ranch was a bit pricy but you can't out a price on unique experiences and memories such as this. Save up for a visit to Chaka Ranch with your loved ones because it is definitely worth the experience.

Well made pizza and pasta

Mambo Italia is an Italian restaurant that specializes in Italian cuisines mostly pastas and gourmet pizzas. They also have great salads too and are well known in Nairobi as one of the best places to order/ eat pizza. Mambo Italia has a Lavington, Westlands and Garden City branch. I have been to their Garden City and Lavington mall and the best part about both branches is the rustic theme and ample space both provide for the dining area. I specially love their Lavington Mall branch because of it's marvellous view and the kids play area that makes the place a great spot for a family outing. The play area gives oke a chance to enjoy a chill outing with minimal disturbance from kids who can be quite jumpy and restless sometimes. The staff here are always friendly and helpful when it comes to choosing what to eat from their extensive menu... especially the pizzas which are sooo many to choose from. Their carnivore pizza and BBQ pizza is sooo good and must try. The best thing about their pizza is that it's thin crusted which is my personal preference. Their large size carnivore pizza went for Ksh 1750 while their BBQ for went for 1650.l which I found pretty reasonable. They have a mini bar area inside their restaurant which has a huge wine collection to choose from. Their Lavington branch has a nice balcony sitting area with a nice view of the road and Lavington area. I've tried their pastas once when one of my friends ordered and it was actually really good but preffered the pizza better since I am generally not a fan of pastas.

Greatest Seafront Restaurant

My time at Forodhani Seafront Restaurant was one of the best highlights to my short stay Mombasa in the latter part of last year. The restaurant is located in Old Town Mombasa along Sir Mbarak Rd. My friends and I had gone on aini vacay to Mombasa and vowed to not leave for Nairobi before trying out the great food at the famous Forodhani restaurant. They have a cute little entrance at the side of their yellow coloured building which led into a narrow corridor. I was glad that they were keen on following covid guidelines since at the end of the corridor was a hand washing point and social distance markers on the floor to ensure even as one waits for the other to wash up, social distance is maintained. Upon entry, the first thing one sees is a marvellous view of the crystal blue waters of the Indian Ocean. The sitting arrangement is in two sections and one chooses if one wants a table near the water or on their upper floor a bit further away. We chose a table down the tiny wooden staircase near the water. The nice breeze since it is an open area felt really good because the heat in Mombasa can make body temperatures a bit unbearable. It has a simple cosy dining area and since it is a seafront restaurant the beautiful view of the waters completes the look perfectly. My favorite part about dining here was their delicious finger-licking swahili cuisines and seafood at affordable prices. We had their fish tikka, their food platter which is the best assorted seafood I've ever had, sides of rice and fries plus mishikaki . Their biriyani is also really good would 10/10 recommend. For a delicious satisfying meal for four, our bill added up to about Ksh 4600 including their mojitos. On your next trip to the coast don't miss a chance to eat some nice swahili made dishes at the greatest seafront restaurant in Mombasa.

A haven for book lovers

I have always been a lover of books and more often that not always have my nose in a book or two so the opening of the Text Book Centre Flagship Store was the greatest news for a die hard book lover like me. This store is located in Sarit Centre is is relatively bigger than the other stores. The great thing about Text Book Centre is that there is something for everyone, you definitely can't walk in and lack a book that suits your preferences. Finding books in here is quite easy because the sections are well labelled this easening the process of finding your way around. The brown and white theme coloured building has numerous sections including the kids section, spiritual section, fiction section, motivation, general books section, higher education section among many more thus no surprise at the vast collection of books inside this store. Besides books Text Book Centre also sells paint and art materials at the paint section ( the Sarit centre paint section is always soo well stocked). Their Sarit Centre outlet even has comfortable benches and seats where you can hold book club meetings absolutely free! Having a nice quiet read here with a marvellous view of the mall is such a calming and much needed experience. The centre here also has a supervised kids chill zone section where you can leave your kid to read as you go about your errands in the mall without stressing about their safety. I visit this branch every two months to add onto my novel collection for over an year now and have not even come a bit close to finishing the books on their fiction section. You can also get to do your kid's back to school shopping here since besides books, Text Book Centre sells stationary and office supplies. A visit here will make you want reignite that long lost abandoned reading culture.

Gorgeous interior and delicious food in generous portions

Pepper Tree Restaurant is a lovely restaurant located along Waiyaki Way Westlands. The entrance is so welcoming with art on the walls on the hallway and staircase towards the dining area. If you're in search of a quiet chill place to have your lunch or dinner, Pepper Tree is definitely the place for you. My mum and I visited Pepper tree early this year and were impressed by how beautiful the place is. It is definitely one of the most underrated restaurants in Nairobi. There are plants hanging down from the ceiling giving the place this indoor garden dining vibe. Their chairs are really comfortable and cosy with a choice of couches if you're many or choose to be more comfortable. I loved the customer service here and the staff were quite friendly we got the menu and took a look at what they had to offer. Their food ranges from $5 to around $25. We first ordered drinks as we contemplated on what to order, their mojitos and salted caramel milkshake are to die for, would 10/10 recommend you to try them when you're there. We had their Jerusalem Lamb Chops which were $19 with a side of spiced rice and roast sweet potatoes which were $5. There food is a hands down 9/10 and their portions quite generous. Since we went there around late evening the place looked so beautiful with the lights blending so well with the plant theme of thw restaurant. There was also music playing in thw background making the eating experience here more amazing. The dining area here is huge so there is no squeezing even on a busy evening. The place maintains a high standard of cleanliness including in their washrooms which was something I really loved about the place. Pepper Tree restaurant also allows birthday and graduation celebrations so it is the perfect place for you and your loved ones to celebrate that special day.

Jomo Kenyatta University is among one of the top universities in Kenya and is located in the heart of Juja, Kiambu County. The university is well-known for offering high quality education and great contribution to the betterment of the country as a whole through its innovative research projects. Jkuat is a hub for research and gives its students opportunities to venture into their area of interest thus giving a chance for their young minds to be movers and shakers of the society intergrating learning from a problem solving and prevention approach. Jkuat University has great facilities including their huge library, huge olympic size pool , well equipped labs with up to date technology. The university hospital known as Jkuat hospital has qualified staff and offers a wide range of health services to both Jkuat students and residents of Juja town. The university is situated in a beautiful serene environment suitable for learning with parks within the school where students can do group discussions and personal reading in between classes. The benches here in the parks for instance Cherry Park have sockets so one can charge his or her phone/laptop. The parks are Wi-Fi enabled therefore a great place to just relax and do research on assignments too. A unique feature about Jkuat University is that it is one of the few universities that houses another university within its walls. Jomo Kenyatta University houses the well built campuses of the Pan Africa Union Institute of Basic Sciences Technology and Innovation (PAUSTI) which is a institute branch of the Pan Africa University. The convenient location of the KCB bank which is just near the school main entrance makes it easier for students to do money transactions and pay fees directly into the school account without the hustle of having to go search for bank agents. The great academic achievements of the university make it a great place to acquire higher learning for students both within and outside the country as it has numerous exchange programs even with its campus in Rwanda.

Perfect place for a coffee date

Art Caffe is one of the top coffee joints in Kenya and has become a personal favorite to many residents in and around Nairobi. They have branches at Westgate Mall, Garden City Mall, Yaya Centre and Kenyatta Avenue. I specially love their Garden City Mall branch due to location convenience and it's interior. I was here on a coffee date with a close friend of mine late last year. Directly opposite the entrance is their pastries and cake stand where people who want takeaway coffee, food or pastries go order. Since we were doing a dine-in ourselves, we headed straight to the tables. A waitress handed us the menus, both theres and the urban gourmet one. Since it was late morning and it's never too late to have coffee, I ordered their coffee latte and a chocolate croissant while my friend got some cappuccino and a slice of their salted caramel which I would highly recommend. It was the best I've ever tasted. Their customer service is really good and our orders took less than 10 mins. Since we were in no hurry we took our time enjoying our mini breakfast which turned into brunch since we ended up ordering food afterwards. I loved the mashed potatoes which I got when I ordered their chicken schnitzel which was Ksh 1190, sooo yummy and worth the money. Their tables are well apart due to social distancing guidelines and I loved that since it gives one a chance to enjoy your date's company with minimal noise or movement interferance. The ambience is great with their walls filled with beautiful art portraits. I definitely look forward to going back there soon.

Nice bakery but needs better arrangement & expansion of product variety

Great bakery but need to expand product variety Mathai Supermarket is one of the oldest serving supermarkets in Kenya but also one of the smaller ones in terms of size. Mathai Supermarket has outlets all over the country with branches in Nairobi, Karatina, Nyeri, Thika, Murang'a, Ruiru, Embu and Meru. It is quite famous and one of the most frequented supermarkets in Nyeri specifically and I have grown up having all our house shopping being done here. Most of their branches occupy two floors with the top floor mostly having the clothes and furniture section. My favorite thing about shopping at Mathai Supermarket is their tasty pastries. Their rock buns and donuts are sooo yummy and quite addictive for a sweet tooth like me. They should however improve on aisle and section arrangement in their Nyeri Branch because it gets quite confusing shopping there with the shoe section on the same floor as the food section and bakery. Another downside is that they stock products from specific manufacturers so you can easily fail to find a product of choice for instance I always want to purchase Ilara yoghurt but for four times now the attendants at the Nyeri Branch keep saying they haven't stocked it yet. Besides improving their floor arrangement and product variety it is actually a good place to do some house hopping.

Good portions and nice dine-in view

Taste of China restaurant is a restaurant that offers Chinese-Indian fusion cuisines known as Indochina. It is located in 3rd Parklands Avenue in TRV office building. The fountain at the entrance makes the place look lovely and welcoming. The dining area is really spacios with huge glass windows surrounding it giving a magnificent view of Westlands. During my date here, we chose a table in the outer dining area nearest the window. We were handed both the drinks and food menus. Their waiters are really kind and one of them took their time to take us through the menu and what wach of the mains entailed since some of the dish ingredients and making were foreign to us Our food got so delayed after we'd made our order so we had to order a starter and some drinks as we waited. We had their spare pork ribs which were really good and they were quite generous with their share. Our food arrived almost half an hour later but it was definitely worth the wait. Their beef in oyster sauce and chicken in foil both going for Ksh 1100 each (large portion) were soooo good. Their mains do not come with sides so one has to order that separately. They make the best egg fried rice I've ever tasted. Taste of China restaurant has great interior decor that contribute to its great ambience. They have a private room for people who wish to have a more intimate event or date so it is the perfect place for either of the two. They have seating arrangements that fit every type of occasion since they have tables for two, four , 6-8, 10 and even more so coming to dine here as a group of friends is comfortable and well taken care of. I'd give my visit a 9/10 however they should improve on waiting time for the order. It is however important to know that Taste of China do not open on Mondays.

Great ambience, best salads but a 6 out of 10 for the food

Honey and dough restaurant is one of the restaurant that is becoming highly popular among Nairobi residents because of its beautiful interior and affordable pricing. Honey and Dough is located in One Africa Place Westlands just about minutes from the CBD. Honey and Dough restaurant have a really nice well lit space with nice cosy chairs and their signature H+D dining nests to seat in in case you want some privacy or more intimate eating experience here. My favorite part about dining here was their interior which even has a plant theme to it and out front a nice led light sign saying " Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food" which I absolutely loved. Their waiters are really professional and welcoming. We had some nice chicken spring rolls which were Ksh 650 and their pork chops which were tasty and some salad. They have great happy hour deals from 3pm everyday however I would suggest they serve their cocktails in larger glasses and improve a bit on their portions & food quality. Besides that, this is a great place for a date or a chill afternoon with friends or family and definitely worth a try. Sadly I didn't get a chance to try out their gin bar but there's always a next time.

Moyo's Fast food is a food joint in Kahawa Sukari along Thika road. Designed for the convenience of people who live within Kahawa Sukari area. My first impression of the place was how Neat simple and clean it was. They offer a variety of dishes and drinks shown on the menu like Masala Fries, chicken, burgers, salads, coffee, tea and juice and other meals at quite affordable prices. My favorite thing about Moyo's Fast Food is they are generous with their portions. Their food quantity is decent especially for their chips masala which I would 10/10 recommend. However, the quality of some of their food can definitely do with some minor improvement for instance their burgers. Their burgers go for Ksh 100 but if improvement on the taste quality and the buns means addition of a few coins then I think that would be better than the current substandard one. Besides that, the place is a great fastfood joint you should definitely try out. Moyo's has great customer service and friendly staff with infectious smiles which always makes me feel welcomed. The place is always clean and the dining area super spacious so there's no shoving or interferance as one eats which is something I find unique unlike most fast food joints . When you do get a chance to stop over at Moyo's Kahawa Sukari don't miss out oj their great chicken and masala fries... definitely a must have!

Beachfront Restaurant with great views and really tasty food

Charchoma Restaurant is a lovely dine-in, bar and grill lodge located along the Mombasa-Malindi highway. It is one of the few beachfront restaurants in Mombasa therefore offers a magnificent view of the Indian ocean as you enjoy one of their delicious Swahili and seafood cuisines. I have visited Charchoma once when I was on holiday at the Coast and it is a place I look forward to visiting again once I'm back there. The first thing you'll notice upon entry into the restaurant is a huge beautiful pool just a few feet from the entrance which is a feature I hadn't seen in the other dine in restaurants I'd been to. The dining area is well arranged and out in the open so it ensures each table has a degree of privacy and minimal interferance from other people. I loved the fact that each table has a nice white umbrella shade matching the white tables to ensure you enjoy your meal without dying from the scorching sun. The place looks so amazing and you can get a chance to walk to the beach after your meal. The waiters came up to us with their menu and we ordered some cocktails first as we waited for our main meal. The chairs are quite cosy so we took our time taking in the beautiful sunset and nice breeze. We had their famous pork ribs and wedges & pulled pork burgers. We had a nice chill evening and took a walk on the beach later. Camel rides are also available at a fee on the beach. The views Charchoma offers are nothing short of breathtaking. Their portions are really good and their lodging prices are also quite affordable considering the great services they offer here so missing out on such greatness next time you're here is definitely on you!

Burger King is an international burger brand and food store and has many branches around Nairobi. Burger king has branches in Lavington, Two Rivers, Thika Road Mall, The Hub Karen and Next Gen Mall on Mombasa Rd. I've eaten at Burger King twice , once at Two Rivers and the other time at their Thika Rd Mall branch. Upon entry one has to walk to the counter to order because one cam only get food after payment. They normally have their meals and combos on the screen above the counter so choosing a meal if you're still undecided is quite easy once you get there. I had a hard time choosing what kind of burger I wanted and ended up getting their double steak burger after the waiter at the counter talked me through the different burgers they had to offer . He was really kind and patient , their staff is really nice and friendly. I got that plus a side of onion rings plus one of their shakes which are honestly really good. I personally love my cheese all gooey and runny but when my burger arrived, the cheese was just a thin tiny slice sandwiched in between. This was a bit disappointing so I had to ask for extra cheese that was an additional Ksh100. Normally at other restaurants, I've never had to order extra cheese which was why I got a bit put off. Their burgers taste nice but the size should also be improved.

Amazing clothes with great variety

MrPrice Fashion is a clothes retail store with branches in various countries and many branches in Kenya. Their braches are located in Garden City Mall, Capital Centre, Sarit Centre , Yaya Centre and the CBD. Their signature red and white cap logo is hard to miss. I love their Garden City branch because it is barely ever packed so the attendants are quite keen on helping and devoting their attention to the few customers inside especially on weekdays when the store is least busy. The one thing I lovw about MrPrice is that there is something for everyone. Their clothes collection always come in all sizes therefore offering fashionable plus size wear which is usually an issue with most stores. Another great thing about shopping at MrPrice is that they have changing rooms where you can try on your clothes of clothes to ensure they fit right before purchase. I specially love their skirts which always fit just right !The one thing most people do not know about MrPrice is that they also stock cheap and unique house decor so if you are looking to renew or add some household decor. This is definitely the place to shop. Their beautiful unique vases which are my absolute favorite go for Ksh 900 and definitely worth every penny. Next time you pass by a MrPrice shop just make a quick stop because whatever they have in store (literally) may surprise you!

Chicken Inn has been one of my favorite chicken eat-out spots in Nairobi. Their chicken is sooo delicious and very addictive that at one point I was ordering their family bucket twice a week and clearing the whole lot of it. Not very proud of it but it does say a lot about how good their chicken is. I love their Thika town and Garden City branch but avoid visiting their CBD branch because I have more that twice found their chicken a bit off and doesn't quite taste as good as the other Chicken Inn outlets I've visited. I love eating ChickenInn chicken because they are always generous with their fries and have great portions. They also always have great deals especially in partnership with PizzaInn therefore making it a great place to have a family outing or hangout with friends since you get more food for less money. They have nice booths which you can enjoy your meal from if you prefer a more intimate set up instead of taking up the usual tables. Besides chicken, the also have chicken nuggets, burgers and wings. Their prices are really affordable with their mega family bucket which comes with a box of fries goes for 1000. Depending on preference, you get to choose whether you want your food extra spicy, spicy or normal. Their customer service is quite efficient and their front desk serve customers in an organized manner according to arrival time. Payment is done before so you can take your order and eat wherever you want without having to go back. The first bite of their chicken will have your tastebuds itching for more.

Great out of town eat-out spot

Unique hidden eat out gem in Kikuyu Crave Kitchen is located in the heart of Kikuyu Town Kiambu County and is about a 40 to 45 minute drive from Nairobi. The beautiful place was initially a garage before it was turned into a lovely food joint that has attracted so many people. They always have a tiny chalkboard outside at the entrance that has a quote of the day written on it. The place is really cute with a rustic theme to it. The outside dining area is in the kitchen garden so you get to have a lovely nature themed surrounding as you have your meal. They still have the option of dining insidw which is equally lovely because they have fantastic art inside and shelves of books available to anyone who wants to have nose stuck in a book as they enjoy one of the finest meals I have gotten a chance to taste. Their mbuzi choma is phenomenal! These guys actually know how to make their customers mouth water with their superb meals that are so yummy. The best part about Crave Kitchen is their meals are very affordable. Can you imagine getting such high quality meals at affordable prices? The ride out of town is definitely 100% worth it. Their staff made the place more lively with their ever smiling faces and great customer services. The guy in charge even came and inquired how our meal was and if we needed anything or had an issue. I found this really nice and professional of them. Crave Kitchen is specially known for its pork and quite famous among the Kikuyu locals. I am planning to go back there soon because places with such amazing food deserve an infinity of visits. It is a perfect place for a solo date or family dinner especially late evening and at night when they usually have the place beautifully candle-lit.

Best fish curry and food platters

Kilimanjaro Jamia is one of the few well known halal restaurants in Nairobi. I personally love their newest branch that's directly opposite Jamia mosque because their food here is more exceptional than in their other outlets still located around town. The ambience and surrounding here is also waaay better that in its other branches. I've been here a couple of times and their savory food has never disappointed one bit. I love eating upstairs since it's quieter on most occasions and has more conveniently placed booths than the few downstairs therefore giving one a chance to enjoy their meals more privately. Their staff is always really friendly and head to ones table immediately one has a seat. They have staff on each floor so you never have to wait too long before you're served even on busy days especially on Friday afternoons since most customers are usually from the nearby mosque. My best meal here is their fish curry. They make sooo well with just the right amount of spices and their portions are very satisfying. Their milkshakes and mango juice are also really nice. It is the perfect place to go for a family outing or hang out with friends because their platter usually is quite huge and has an assortment of many meals on their extensive menu. Their platter ranges from Ksh 1150 to Ksh 3150 depending on the food mixed and the number of people sharing when you order. If you live around Nairobi and haven't tried a meal here I don't know what you've been waiting for.

It also has computers to guide you directly to the particular shelves of the book you require and the book number. Kenyatta University offers a lot of different courses and offers learning of foreign languages like Chinese to any interested students. It also gives you the chance to specialize and continue with further studies from undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate degrees. The grounds here are beautiful and the environment quite serene therefore providing the perfect learning environment. Kenyatta University has great infrastructure, like the Campanile, a huge tower surrounded by a small beautiful park. The tower holds a huge bell that rings at every hour turn and also holds some history of Kenyatta university. The school has a theater called the Amphitheatre that the school holds important events in a enclosed indoor space while any event outdoors is held at the huge graduation square. The school also has a nice beautiful park called the arboretum where students choose to chill, pray, and have photography sessions whenever they wish. The school is fully tarmacked all the way round the school and has workers who ensure the school is clean and tidy. The school also has good networking opportunities. This is the perfect place to gain some network with different people from all over Kenya and abroad with different ideas and personalities. For example it holds career weeks which people get to show off their skills and share ideas, it has some master classes for every coursezit also has cultural weeks where it holds singing competition, fashion shows, concerts and showing the different cultures and tribes of Kenya. In order to ensure maximum safety, at the gate all sudents pass through metal detectors and frisked for security reasons. The guards also take your temperature for health and safety reasons due to the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic then a few meters from there you'll find some sinks with soap to wash your hands before heading to class. In most courses the school will provide any equipment needed for you to study and also it has a computer room block with WiFi running on every computer to assist the students who need the computer for research and learning purposes. Registering for units and receiving grades are all done online at the schools cite to hasten the process instead of handing out results to individuals one at a time. The cons of the school is one has to walk for long distances to for some processes like applying to join the school, going to the school bank and hostels. There is no convenient transportation to different places and the application process takes a lot of time to do.

Best mouthwatering pork dishes

Roast N Chops Porkpit Ruaka has become a personal favorite when it comes to satisfying my pork cravings. It is located in the Ruaka CBD directly opposite Quickmart Ruaka. Porkpit is a bit off town so if you're looking for a hangout joint out of town, this is definitely the place. If you're using public transport, matatus (route 48) to Ruaka are taken at the Odeon stage and it takes around 25 to 30 minutes to get there. Their menu is budget friendly with their most expensive meal usually a platter for two going for Ksh 2800. The place isn't thaaat huge but it is almost always packed. I have been there twice now and their food is so yummy, their pork wet fry which is a person favourite is a must try. Their pork alfredo, a dish I found quite unique is also a great choice and very tasty too. They also take orders for delivery for people outside town so you don't have to worry about having to go all the way to Ruaka, you can actually enjoy their tasty food at the comfort of your home or office. The only downside about the place is the spacing inside , when packed I felt the place a bit crowded and their services an 8/10 since I had to wait for quite while before my order arrived. I do think they should open a branch in Nairobi for people who would like a dine-in experience and don't can't get a chance to go all the way to Ruaka because who wouldn't flood there every weekend for just a crumb of their finger-licking pork.

Convenient and affordable shopping option

Carrefour is quickly becoming one of the most frequented supermarkets countrywide having expanded and opened numerous branches countrywide. Carrefour has outlets in Two Rivers, TRM, Junction Mall and Sarit Centre , in Mombasa County and Kisumu too. Their ever fully stocked stores attracts so many customers on a daily. My favourite part about shopping here is they always stock a variety of products thus leaving one spoilt for choice and rarely does one have to check other stores afterwards for a missing product you wanted. Carrefour prices are quite affordable and they offer the best deals and discounted offers when it comes to food products. Being a lover of everything cooking and baking, I always prefer doing my shopping for ingredients here at Carrefour since I get the best prices I could get around for their spices and cheese too. They also offer rarely found fresh spices like thyme , all these at quite affordable prices. When I went grocery shopping there a week ago, I was surprised to discover they also sell fresh honey , which I found quite unique. Carrefour have a great bakery that offers freshly baked pastries and are the best grocery store in town. The liqour store inside the supermarket is normally fully stocked and you can find really good deals on especially the wines and gin which are normally a bit priced in other stores. Their API payment system is quite unique if you plan to use mobile money especially MPESA which I found quite convenient since it saves one a lot of time and makes the short queues at the cashier fast moving. The supermarket is huge and occupies a huge area so in case of an issue I always have to walk around the aisles to find an attendant , I would wish they could work on having at least one attendant manning each aisle at all times to avoid the hustle of moving around looking for one. Apart from that, shopping here is always a wonderful experience this so grab a trolley and shop away!

Great mall on the highway

Thika Road Mall (Commonly known as TRM) is located in Kasarani area North of the Nairobi City center ,along the busy Thika Road Superhighway. It hosts a wide array of businesses and stalls that cover most of the shoppers needs. The businesses include Carrefour Supermarket, Textbook Center, LC Waikiki stalls for clothing. Lounges and food joints like Galitos, Pizza Inn, Chicken Inn, Cream inn to Java. My favourite food joint here is Burger King who make the best sloppy joes that you get to enjoy in their fancy and cosy booths. The mall also has banks and ATMs, gaming shops, salons and barbershops and beauty shops. The workers here are friendly and ever willing to help especially when one gets lost and needs help getting direction which has happened to me a couple of times. TRM also has a great hangout for kids and teens as it has a gaming Center called Funscape with different games to entertain them like racing vitual cars, trampolines, bumber rides among others all indoors. The security here is tight with guards keen on ensuring maximum safety. Bags are checked both at the gate and main entrance. Covid-19 health guidelines are being followed here and ones temperature taken before entering the mall. The only downside to the mall is that it can get a bit too crowdy and noisy during the weekends and holidays as the locals go around this time to shop and have fun. The parking area also gets super full then.

Garden City mall is one of the two famous malls among residents living anywhere between Thika and Nairobi since its convenient location saves people unnecessary trips into Nairobi town. The mall is quite huge and its attractive, colourful storey building visible from afar. The mall has two entrance points; one out front facing the highway and the other on the right wall end of the mall used by anyone coming in with a vehicle. At the gate entrance is a checkpoint where the guard at the gate requests one to remove ones bag or anything one could be carrying and place it on a counter and walkthrough a beeping machine to ensure one is eligible for entry. This happens twice since the same process is repeated again at the mall's main entrance to ensure maximum safety. The building is well structured with huge store space for each store, at the centre of the mall on the the groundfloor is a blueprint 3D model of the Garden City Mall building and grounds surrounded by a glass casing. My best stores in the mall are Java who have their restaurant on the groundfloor, I often grab some coffee and a slice of their delicious salted caramel cake on Friday afternoons as I try beat deadlines and get my work done . Another all time fave of mine here is IMAX movies who have their movie stall up on the first floor. They give the best student deals on Thursdays where you can watch a 3D movie for only $5 inclusive of salted popcorn! The mall also houses other numerous businesses like Bata Kenya, the Game supermarket, Woolworths, Vivo women, Big Square, Chicken Inn, Creamy inn , KFC, Mac and Planet Yoghurt . The mall has very good facilities like washrooms and lifts designed specially for anyone physically disabled or on a wheelchair. The mall grounds have a beautiful lawn where one can just chill and enjoy sun in the beautiful breeze. However I was back there at the beginning of this year and its former lash green look has turned brown and eroded which is quite a bummer so one ends up sitting on the benches nearby. There is a great play area for kids therefore a great place for a fun day out with your kids since they even have a bouncing castle and water fountain play area. The mall also has ample safe parking space with no interferance which is a plus. There is something for everyone here so catch the next bus here on your way into the city and maybe the stop will save you a trip or two!

A great out of town getaway

Oldoiyo Lengai Resort and Bistro is located right at the exit of Karatina town along the Nyeri-Karatina highway. Having grown up in Nyeri town, going there on Sunday afternoons and almost everyday during the holidays was something I looked forward to every weekend. We still frequent the place occasionally even now when we're older and the place hasn't changed a bit. On normal weekdays, during the holidays the place is quiet and a great place to just relax by the pool sipping some juice and soaking in the sun. However on weekends, the place gets sooo packed. My favourite part of the resort is their olympic size pool which attracts so many people over the weekends. It has now become the perfect weekend getaway for families in Nairobi trying to escape the hustle and bustle of Nairobi town for a day or two. Swimming charges at Oldoiyo Le Ngai are $2 per person which is quite affordable considering the ambience and size of the pool. The pool is always clean and a life guard always on standby. The great thing about the pool here is that for younger kids, the hotel has a sizeable mini pool for kids under 9 years right next to the big pool. The hotel also has a gym, sauna and a spa that ofgers the best massages ever making it a great choice for that out-of-town date you've been planning for! Their food is great and their portions too however, they should improve on their service since most of the times our orders get delayed when we order from the poolside tables after swimming. They instead prioritize the customers who decide to sit inside the hotel which gets a bit annoying. Besides that, it is definitely a place you should try out for a change. Oldoiyo Le Ngai also offers a free, safe and ample parking space with a guard always on standby to ensure order and safety from mini accidents as people drive in and out.

Good first time experience in Chinese restaurant

Mister Wok is a Chinese restaurant that offers one of the best Chinese cuisines in Nairobi. They currently have branches in Two Rivers, Parklands, The Hub and at Capital Centre. I have always been one to try out new food and recipes so the impromptu decision to try out Chinese for the first time with my sister wasn't quite a surprise. I visited their Capital Centre branch and since it was a late evening on a Saturday the place was quite busy.Once we got a table and got comfortable we took a look at the menu we and couldn't figure out what to order. Their main course options were either chicken, beef ors seafood. Noodles, rice and wraps were also an option. After a lot of consideration, we decided to order their Schezuan spicy noodles at Ksh 550, beef in Schezuan sauce at Ksh 900 and their sweet and sour chicken at Ksh 900. My favourite thing about dining here is their menu prices which were quite pocket-friendly ranging from as low as Ksh 350 to Ksh 1400. I also loved the fact that their menu is inclusive having both vegetarian and non vegetarian options. The food was really above expectations. My favourite was their spicy noodles and their chicken which were soo well made. The portions were okay but after the meal I ordered some random tea on the menu which I regretted since I found it a bit "herbal" tasting which isn't quite my preference so I ended up ordering their passion juice which was actually really good. I would 9/10 recommend the place.

Tastiest BBQ ribs and fantastic milkshakes

After a visit to The Big Square Moi Avenue branch on a weekend, their BBQ ribs are all my friends could talk about for am entire week so I decided I had to try out the place myself and see what the hype was all about. I visited their Garden City branch usually on the the first floor of the mall and what struck me first about the place is it's beautiful dining area. One can choose to either dine inside the restaurant or outside where they have an enclosed, spacious well designed sitting area. Inside, the walls are orange with beautiful black and white photographs which create a beautiful contrast making the place look warm and lively. I was warmly received by the waitress at the doorway who asked me how she could be of assistance and where I'd wish to sit. I chose to sit outside where I could get a good view of the mall. I was then handed the menu and without much thought ordered their honey BBQ single rack beef ribs that were Ksh 1140 with a side of fries and an oreo milkshake. Their milkshakes are fantastic to say the least and definitely worth the ksh 500. My order got a bit delayed and when it arrived the ribs looked soooo good, so mouthwatering that I devoured on them immediately forgetting to even use a fork to eat my fries! Their ribs are nothing short of heavenly, finger-licking glory. Their fries were sweet but quite little they should definitely work on their portions. Besides that, my experience there was nice and I would definitely go back there for another taste of their delicious ribs. Besides Nairobi where they have branches at Bellevue, Lavington, Two Rivers and the Mountain View Mall , Bigsquare also has a branch in Eldoret so you can get to enjoy some ribs from your nearest branch!

Being the largest mall in Eastern Africa, Two Rivers Mall which is located along Limuru Rd easily became everyone's favorite shopping mall due to its size, the numerous businesses housed there and its unique theme park which kids are obsessed with. The great thing about two rivers is that you get to find everything in one building since the mall hosts so many different businesses and stores including Pizza Inn, Carrefour, Galito's, Aman, Giordano, Decathlon for great sportswear, Mr Price Fashions, Café Gusto who make awesome coffee among many other stores. My favourite thing about Two Rivers is that when it comes to food there's a wide array of places to choose from. The Pizza Inn outlet here makes their pizzas waaay better than their other outlets at Garden City and in the city centre branches and is by far the bst pizza I've ever tasted. Other food businesses here include Chicken Inn, Big Square, Galito's, Burger King among others. If you're a fan of chinese food, Mister Wok is definitely the place for you.The mall also houses the bank offices of KCB bank DTB , Co-operative bank, Sidian Bank, Barclays and CBA. Despite being quite a distance from town, Two Rivers mall is definitely the best option for anyone trying to avoid the city centre back to school hustle since located here is Carrefour supermarket which always has great deals, Bata Kenya and Textbook Centre in case you need to purchase some books. There is ample safe parking outside the mall at a fee. The very best thing and most unique thing about Two Rivers is the Funscapes Themepark which offers great entertainment and fun for both kids and adults. The Flume ride which is a 7- metre water ride is quite enjoyable for both adults and children. Sitting on the ferris wheel gondolas is one of my most unforgettable experiences there since on a clear sky evening, one manages to appreciate a beautiful view of the sunset. There are also other games here like the drop tower which is a 17 metre drop down... gives quite the adrenaline rush and is definitely a must try. There's something for everyone at two rivers, would 10/10 recommend.

Affordable, quality education at private university

Kabarak University is a private university located 22 km from Nakuru town. The motto of the school is " Education in Biblical Perspective " and that speaks volumes about the moral standards upheld in the institution. The school seats on a 600 acre land right next to the similarly popular Moi High School Kabarak. The most unique thing about the school besides its exemplary morals would be the world-class services you are guaranteed to receive in the institution, from their offices, to their meals, down to the cleanliness of the place. Kabarak University has a subsidiary institution called Kabarak Enterprise which is in charge of accommodation within the University, preparation of meals and cleanliness of the University. The Enterprise also manages the guest house under its name just beside the school which houses executive accommodation rooms and meals, recreational resources such as a swimming and state of the art gym as well as a professional conference center. The School has a well-equipped school of Music which produces quality musicians. The School of Medicine and Health Sciences has the largest premise with ongoing construction of the level 5 Kabarak Hospital just opposite the school. The school of law is one of the most popular schools in the institution as well as its school of Business and Economics, School of Education and School of Science, Engineering and Technology. Kabarak University prides itself with its moral standards and as such, they conduct a weekly service in the school chapel each Wednesday where students and all staff get an opportunity to fellowship together, a service that is more often than not attended by top management such as the Vice Chancellor. The location of the University makes it possible for learners to have the experience of living a community of loving and kind, kindred spirits, both academically and in humanitarian terms

Juja Ecomatt , is a supermarket located in the small town of Juja, Kiambu County. Famous among Juja residents like me, the supermarket is located just near the main stage therefore attracting so many customers due to its convenient location. I often do my house shopping here and my favourite thing about this supermarket is its bakery. They always have freshly baked pastries and their chocolate glazed donuts are an all time favorite. Their choco balls and mini cookies are also a must try! Their attendants are quite helpful and are always on standby ,two on each end of the aisle to ensure they quickly come to aid in case help is necessary. Juja Ecomatt is always well stocked and provide a wide variety of products from different manufacturers therefore missing an item from their shelves is quite rare. There is a milk ATM at their entrance which I must say have never disappointed as their milk is ever fresh. There are however a few downsides about the place including the fact that Juja Ecomatt does not stock market products therefore grocery shopping is not possible here. Another downside is that some of their products are sometimes a bit overpriced being a few coins above other supermarkets thus massive house shopping overall costs a bit more than if I had gone elsewhere. The place occupies two floors and you'd therefore expect the place to be a bit spacious but that is however the contrary. The supermarket is a bit squeezed with the aisles closely set next to each other therefore on a busy day manouvering and finding one's way through people becomes a bit annoying due to the constant pushing and shoving. I would also recommend that their staff avoid piling boxes along the staircase towards their upper floor as it reduces walking space if one is going up and another customer going downstairs.

Oldest university in Kenya but still a great place for higher learning

Named after the famous Lord Egerton, Egerton university is one of the oldest universities in Kenya. The university has three campuses and it's main one located in Njoro. The main campus houses the school of Medicine, Arts and Social Sciences, Agriculture and School of Engineering. The Kenyatta campus located about 5km from the main campus offers the open and distance learning programs while the Nairobi campus offers Commerce , Education and Community studies. The main campus is well-built with great security since they incorporated full time CCTV surveillance. At the entrance, they also have X ray baggage security scanners which are used to check students bags upon entry to ensure maximum safety. Initially built as a farm school by Lord Maurice Egerton, it is no surprise that this university is renowned for its quality education in agriculture and any agriculture related courses. The university has numerous academic achievements including being repeatedly ranked #1 in Kenya and Africa in Webometrics, undertaking ground breaking research projects on soil fertility replenishment, tropical legumes, epidemiology and policy analysis matrix. The grounds are quite extensive endowed with old buildings which give one a "walking through history" feel. New structures and facilities to better the learning experience of students like building of the new library are currently underway. Riding around campus grounds on bikes is definitely something I'll miss about studying here. My favourite thing about Egerton is that the campus is built in a very serene environment surrounded with trees everywhere providing one with perfect reading environment and a great place to just relax during breaks. The only downsides that the university should make an effort to improve on is the ocassional water shortage in the school hostels which affects many students since a huge percentage of the student population stay there. Another downside is the closure of the in-school hotels and food shops leaving only one to serve the entire student population. This was quite a bummer since the restaurants outside the school are quite a distance off campus grounds since the university isn't located near Njoro's main shopping centre. Besides this , Egerton university continues to make huge steps towards the acquisition of higher learning experience in Kenya.

Small hike to a great picnic site

Ngong Hills Forest Reserve gives the best and most convenient out of town daytrip getaway from the city due to its proximity to Nairobi and has been one of my most exciting experiences yet. It is located near Ngong Town with its hiking trail beginning at Ngong Town Police station amd ending at Kona Baridi. The whole trail takes about 4 to 5 hrs to complete however not being quite the fitness gurus my friends and I decided to just hike a few kilometers. The best picnic areas are normally after the first two hills so we braced ourselves for quite a walk across the hilly terrain. Entrance fee was Ksh 212 per person which I found quite affordable and worth the experience. After trekking about 2 km we got to the wind farm, it gets quite windy here but luckily it was sunny so it didn't get thaaat cold for us. However I'd recommend one carries a scarf at least because it can get quite breezy and cold even if its sunny. Since we had started off early, we managed to take a break on the second hill first, took a rest and some snacks then went ahead for a few more miles. We set up on top of the fourth hill with a marvellous view of the ragged terrain and the Great Rift Valley on the right. The hike was quite steep and soooo tiring but definitely worth the view. The great thing about a hike on Ngong hills is that after the picnic one can engage in the various activities offered there including archery, ziplining and bike riding at a fee. Bike riding here is Ksh 500 for a 3hr ride. It is quite tiring riding due to the steepiness of the grounds here but was a much needed exercise. An experience here is definitely a 10/10 highly recommend for me.

Easy, convenient travel to and from the Coast

The SGR Nairobi terminus is located in Syokimau just south of the city centre. The architecture of the place is quite unique having its outlook as two trains with a bridge in between. I have travelled to Mombasa twice by train now and the efficiency in terms of time compared to bus travel has improved tremendously saving one a few hours of journey discomfort. Ticket booking can either be done online or physically at the terminus which are usually quite far from the town centre in both Nairobi and Mombasa. They can however make the booking process easier for people who can't do online booking by maybe setting up a booking office in the CBD's of both cities to ease the process. The checking in process is quite smooth but I'd advise one to arrive early to ensure you are done in time since the earlier you arrive the sooner you are done with the process as these guys follow strict time schedules. First class tickets go for Ksh 3000 while those of economic class go for Ksh 1000. Anyone taking first class (usually in a separate waiting lounge) is given first priority when it comes to train entry since they use the lift and enter the train first. The main difference between travelling first class and economy class as I have travelled using both is that in first class the seats can recline backwards allowing one maximum comfort during the journey unlike economy class whereby the seats face each other and one has to seat up straight for a whole 6hrs cramped up in that tiny space. Each pair of seats in first class have a socket and instead of having the attendants wheeling a cart of food like in economy class , passengers in first class have a dining lounge. Passengers in first class also get a free drink which doesn't happen in economy class. However, the experience in economy class isn't all that bad . The services are just a bit different and the 6hr long journey a bit more bearable when I travelled first class. So if given a choice and finances adequate, first class is definitely a waaay bettter option in my opinion.

Great food worth every penny

Cj's restaurant, short for Cafe Java has become an absolute fave among the various eat-out spots for Nairobi residents. My friends and I decided to try out their Koinange Street branch as a well deserved treat after a long and tiresome exam period. Unfortunately when we got there, the staff at yhe entrance informed us that the tables were full and the empty ones had been reserved but he told led us to a bench at the entrance and requested us to wait. After about 10 mins, we were ushered in and showed to our table. The place is really clean and the dining area is well arranged and spaced out. I loved their seats which unlike the usual uncomfortable chairs I'm used to in other restaurants, theirs are padded and very comfortable. The waiter quickly came up to us greeted as warmly and asked us if we were ready to order our drinks as we contemplated on what to order from their extensive menu. I ordered a pinacolada which is by far the best I've ever tasted, would highly recommend. My two other friends ordered milkshakes instead. Their coladas are just Ksh 480 and definitely worth every penny. Their gourmet milkshakes on the other hand are Ksh 450 each and despite the difference in flavours, all are priced the same. After our orders were taken we were left to enjoy the drinks as we waited. The food didn't take too long and I must say i was impressed by their efficiency. Their southwestern quesadillas going for only 1190 witu a side of fries are quite something! Definitely a must try. My friends had their pizza and grilled tilapia which were equally good. My favorite part about dining at CJ's is that their portions are really good and worth every coin. We each had our chocolate fudge slices packed as take away since we were so full. The cake was soooo delicious I actually ended up ordering a whole cake from them for my sister's birthday last year. Cj's have always had a CJ's big fan offer whereby they choose one person to have one free breakfast on a day of their choice among anyone who's tagged them on a picture eating at any one of their branches. I haven't become a lucky winner yet but nevertheless, everyone DOES deserve a CJ's experience.

A Sheraton nightstay (best airport hotel ever)

I got a chance to experience the ultimate Sheraton experience about an year ago when one of my cousins was going back to the states. Four Points by Sheraton actually have two branches , one in Hurlingham and another near JKIA . Since the hotel is conveniently located near the airport, their JKIA branch was easily the perfect choice for us as a place to enjoy her last night in Kenya. The staff there were really friendly and efficient right from the moment we got there. The check-in process was flawless and quite smooth. We were later shown up to our room which was really clean and the bed soooo comfy. The hotel's interior has a simple theme and has numerous amenities you get to enjoy such as their well equipped gym, pool bar, spa, conference rooms and a rooftop pool. Unfortunately, neither of us got to use their gym but the pool ... Wow. The place is breathtaking. This was my favorite part about our stay here and we spent most part of our afternoon lounging by the poolside. Their rooftop pool gives a magnificent view of the Nairobi National Park so besides being enjoyable, swimming here was scenic. The food here is fantastic breakfast buffet we got the next morning was marvellous and quite scrumptious to say the least. We got to get to the airport in time since the convenient location just a few minutes away from the airport helped us avoid the unpredictable Nairobi traffic. I highly recommend a stay at Four Points Sheraton to anyone looking for the perfect weekend getaway or anyone seeking the perfect place near the airport before departure , you definitely won't be disappointed!

Tastiest burgers in town

Urban Gourmet Burger commonly known as Urban Burger has easily become my go to favourite on most Monday evenings for their two burgers for the price of one Monday deal. They have numerous branches including one at Garden City Mall, Prestige Mall, Nairobi Town and at Village Market. They always have great deals so I'm always looking out for their burger of the month of offers so I don't miss out on their amazing deals. My favorite meal there is their double lamb burger with a side of onion rings and their Texas burger. Their milkshakes are really nice too. I opt to visit their Garden City Branch most times instead of their Nairobi Town one due to its close proximity to school. Going there in the evening is definitely a much better preference than any other time of the day since you get to enjoy discounted cocktail and draftbeer prices during happy hour everyday from 4p.m to 7p.m. Their cocktails range from $6 to $7.5 so during happy hour their offer is always buy one and get another cocktail free! Their customer service is great however there's times especially on weekends when the place is packed, my order was delayed for over 30 minutes while other people who came in after. They however compensated the long wait with extra fries immediately after they discovered how much of an inconvenience they'd been. Besides that, my experience there has been great . A burger every other day definitely keeps the cravings away!

Great deals and fresh groceries

Naivas supermarket has opened many branches over the years and its expansion across various counties not just Nairobi, has incresed their market and customers due to easy accessibility. They have outlets in Ruiru, Thika , Spur Mall , Nyeri , Nakuru, Eldoret and sooo many more. I love shopping at Naivas Supermarket because they always have great deals and discounted offers on their products therefore saving me some coins. The place is always fully stocked and their aisles well sectioned according to the products on the shelves. The sign boards above every section showing what specific aisles have ensure minimal confusion and saves one time since one does not have to keep going round searching for a specific products. My favourite part about Naivas Supermarket is their groceries section which is always well stocked with fresh farm produce. Since I'm always in a rush and the market is quite far, a quick stop here always saves me a lot of time. Their bakery always has fresh pastries and their mouth watering blackforest cake sooo delicious! They bake the best cakes and the three times I've ordered my cakes I have not been disappointed. The attendants are quite helpful and strategically posted at the end of every aisle therefore always on the lookout for a customer in need of help or clarification about a product. Recently Naivas Supermarket partnered with Little Cab to offer customers who shop a minimum of Ksh 1000 worth of shopping frew rides to their destination. I got to enjoy a free ride this when I visited Nakuru last week and shopped at their Nakuru branch! They were so quick and willing I was actually really impressed. The only bad experience I've had with them is early this month during the back to school period. Due to the hustle that comes with it, the CBD branch on Moi Avenue was running a bit slower than usual and due to covid regulations they had as line up on the sidewalk in a very long queue waiting to enter. I found the situation not well handled since it got a bit chaotic when the line got bigger and since one cannot extend into the road the sidewalk got crowded and shoving from passerbys as they tried to find their way through got annoying. I think they could have handled the situation a bit better.

It is located on the 8th floor of Pramukh towers in Westlands and their unique interior designed to make the place look cosy, simple and classy with wooden couches and tables makes Baobox the perfect place to eat, drink, bond and play board games with friends. I have been to Bao box twice and my experience there has been nothing short of fun. For just $10 my friends and I were given unlimited access to their collection of board games which included Cards Against Humanity, Monopoly, Poker, Jumanji, Never Have I Ever, Fact or Crap, Scrabble, Chess and sooo many more! The staff here are strictly following the Covid-19 health guidelines by spacing the sitting arrangements and ensuring constant sanitizing of tables amd customers too. All customers are also encouraged to wear a mask during interaction. I found their 'Real Deal' menu section a bit pricy since I strictly work on student budget. Their pizzas were quite delicious and their fries very well dried and salted however, their portions are quite wanting when compared to the amount one is paying for the food. Since Baobox is located up on the 8th floor, the glass windows surrounding the whole place give a great view of Westlands from above. It is definitely a place to try out especially with friends since there's so many fun games to enjoy here.

Great chicken but small portions

Being a great lover of chicken, ordering from KFC on Glovo or UberEats has become a habit I can't seem to stop. Their streetwise 2 combo had been a personal favorite especially during the lockdown period . Currently, they have a discounted offer on it selling it at only 300 bob. My best experience with KFC was on 23rd December when my friend and I popped in to grab some take away at their newly opened branch on Langata Drive and we got Ksh 500 worth of fuel for spending Ksh1200 on our order! I actually had no idea that the first 100 customers who were going to spend over 1000 that day were to be gifted this. My favourite thing about KFC besides their crispy delicious chicken is their perfectly cut and well-salted fries. When I'm not ordering from home, I mostly eat from their Garden City branch. Their customer service here is great and have a nice spacious dining area facing the beautiful lawn in the mall. I however wish they would increase their fries portions especially when one buys the 9 piece chicken bucket combo without charging more for extra fries considering the fact that one has spent Ksh 1650 on the order. I highly recommend the KFC sliders for people who prefer hotdogs over chicken. In case you are caught up in traffic and quite hungry, their drivethru comes in handy especially on the ever busy Mombasa Rd. Eating here whether dine in or delivery is definitely a must try.

If you're an outdoorsy, nature loving person looking to find a great way to spend those free out of school/job hours on weekends then this is definitely the place to visit. I loved my experience at the Giraffe centre early last year and will totally head back there again in the near future. For only $4 entrance fee each ( normally the charges for resident adult citizens) my friends and I got to see the endangered Rothschild giraffes here. For any child below three years, entrance here is free of charge! The charges are quite affordable which is one thing I loved about the place. My favourite part about the visit here was getting to pet and feed the giraffes from the feeding platform. Their long rough tongues are quite something! The giraffes are quite friendly and fascinating creatures too.The guide we got was really good and gave us a brief history of the place and the mission of the giraffe centre. Another great thing about the famous Giraffe centre is that the place is open even on public holidays which is quite convenient since in most cases is the only time most people get a break off work. We also took a self guided walk in the nearby Gogo River Bird Sanctuary and got to do a bit of birdwatching. There are usually some warthogs in the mud on the grounds nearby but unfortunately we didn't get to see any that day. It was however $4 well spent on an unforgettable experience.

LC Waikiki is an international clothing retail store with its branches in various malls including Sarit Centre, Two Rivers, Junction Mall and Thika Road Mall. I personally shop at their Sarit and TRM outlet quite often and their stores are spectacular with a vast collection of clothes. Their stores are organized and well arranged so finding ones clothes of interest is not as difficult. LC Waikiki has changing rooms present inside the store that allow you to try on clothes therefore eliminating the usual hustle of having to spend money purchasing clothes that might keep possibly not fit right once I get home. My favorite thing about shopping at LC waikiki is their sales which have me rushing to their stores for their throw away prices and great discounts. Another great thing about the Waikiki stores is that they have a wide range of clothing cutting across all age-groups which is a plus. The clothes here are normally of good quality so you never have to worry about unnecessarily spending money to renew worn out clothes and only reason to get new ones being to add my existing collection. LC Waikiki have incorporated a new instant online shopping option that gives its customers a chance to order clothes via whatsapp. They also stock shoes therefore anything you need in regards to fashionwear is found under one roof. Moreover, any online purchases above $35 at LC Waikiki are normally shipped free of charge so hurry up and order yourself some good fits!

Calm and perfect place for picnics

Nairobi Arboretum has been my go-to place every Sunday for the last 3 years and the evergreen calm environment i fell in love with the very first time i was there hasn't changed one bit. Since it is a botanical garden, the area is full of trees that provide shade on those scorching sunny Sunday afternoon so I can read my novels at ease and have wonderful picnics without the heat making it too uncomfortable. The great thing about Nairobi Arboretum is that the place occupies a wide area so even on weekends when many families and workout/ team building groups come out here there is no interferance since there is ample space for everyone. The place has benches set out at intervals for anyone who prefers seats over the well-lawned grounds of the arboretum. It is also a great place to walk your dog and go for jog. There a is a stream that passes through the arboretum a bit far off from the common grounds that provides the perfect picnic spot away from everyone else. The fact that it is only a 30-minute walk or 10 mins drive from the city center makes it a convenient chill spot for anyone seeking that tranquil environment away from the noisy city centre. Another great thing about Nairobi Arboretum is that there are food vendors so you can spend a great deal of time there without getting worried about being hungry. The vendors inside are so friendly and icecream is always a must have for me . The place is always clean since the trash bins are conveniently located throughout the grounds and littering is not allowed. The ample parking space outside the main gate ensures cars don't get into the grounds so the place is never unnecessarily packed and is kid-friendly so kids can run around without the risk of getting run over.

A holistic and great learning experience

Pangani Girls Highschool is an all girls boarding school located along Juja Road near Nairobi Town in Starehe Constituency. Being one of the best National Schools in Kenya and ranked top performing girls school in Nairobi time and again , the school has proved to be a great choice for students seeking a spot in a National school after their KCPE exam. The school occupies two sections on either side of the road therefore the most distinct feature well notable about the school even from outside is the beautiful well-built flyover that stretches across the either side the school thus connecting the two sections. Having studied there for four years, I must say my experience there was both exciting and educative. The driveway that leads to the administration block is always clean and the compound well swept making the school environment look both beautiful and learner- friendly. Besides its numerous academic achievements, Pangani Girls gives its students a great opportunity to improve their talent through its well structured curriculum and timetables that allow ample time for extra curricular activities like games like basket ball, handball, table tennis, football and volleyball. Moreover, Pangani has one of the best hockey teams and has won numerous trophies in competitions against schools both within and out of Nairobi also not forgetting to mention the 25m swimming pool in the school grounds also gives students a chance to better their swimming. The school has great learning facilities including well equipped laboratories that enhance students' learning experience. My favourite building in the school was the huge, glass-walled, three-storey library that was packed with a large, vast collection of books. Staying in the library in the evenings and on weekends having my nose in a literature book or two was my favorite passtime. The teachers here are highly qualified and experienced so it is therefore no surprise how great students perform in their final exams and secure spots to do prestigious courses in both Kenyan Universities and abroad. If you are considering Pangani Girls, then your heart is definitely at the right place.

FK Resort and Spa is a high class resort located in Central Kenya on the Nairobi-Nyeri highway right between Nyeri Town amd Karatina town. I got to visit this beautiful gem with my family back home during my birthday last year over the Covid period and the place looked eveey bit as magnificent as it did in the photos we'd looked up before going there. At the main gate the guards manning the gate greeted as warmly, did their routine safety checkup and before letting us drive through splurged some sanitizer on each of our hands after taking temperature. The driveway leading to the tall magnificent resort has well tended hedges on either side giving it palace courtyard vibes. Before reaching the main entrance is a huge lawn with lash green glass that would be the perfect to hold an event. I loved how strategically placed the fountain at the entrance was. Upon entry through the main doorway is a well lit hallway with beautiful chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. The hallway led us into the beautiful dining and swimming pool area. Unfortunately we didn't swim that day since it was a getting dark and a bit cold but upon inquiry from the waitress for future purposes we weee informed that charges for adults was $5 per person and $3 for kids. We chose the tables on the raised platform so we could have a marvellous view of the grounds as we relaxed and ate. We first ordered drinks s we waited for the orders we placed to be brought. Their salads are to die for, totally loved it! Their portions are however a bit small compared to the prices which is something they should improve on. I loved their services and the waiters were quick to bring our orders every time we asked something else be brought to our table. After our meal, we did a self given tour down the staircase that led deeper into the grounds to see the camping area. They actually have a beautiful forested area overlooking a river specifically for that to give that "out in the wild" feeling to campers. It is definitely a place I wish to visit again for a night stay next time round because the building is quite a beautiful sight at night.
