The home of events in Kenya. Whenever an event is held at ngong racecourse, rest assured that its going be crazy lit and its going to pull huge numbers. A cab from the CBD costs 450/= but there is also the option of using a matatu where you’ll be charged 100/= I have gone for two events at the ground and both of them have been mind blowing. Its sheer size allows for a lot of parking space, a lot of food and beverages vendors, a lot of dancing space and a huge stage. The entrance is well guarded and you are unlikely to enter the place without Identification and tickets. The only short coming of this place is the pick pocketing. Especially if the event is at night and you are in a crowd, always hold your phone. There are many crazy stories about how guys loose their phones there. But all in all, if you ever see an event being held at ngong racecourse, I assure you it’s going to be a blast.

Big square has many branches across nairobi. I mostly go to the one at garden city because it's closer for me. They however have branches at Moi Avenue, Adlife plaza, Oval, Lavington, Bellevue and many more around the city. Their interior is uniform at all their branches. The have very nice relaxing music playing in the background. The interior is simple but modern. The place is very chilled especially when it's not rush hour. A good place to have some wine while you work on your laptop. Its also a great place to chill as friends and drink some beer. Their service is very nice and the waiters are very polite and friendly. Their prices are affordable with a full meal for on person being less than 1500 including drinks. Their ribs are quite tender and juicy. Their fries are also well seasoned. Their shakes are great and their pizza amazing. They are generous with the amount of toppings they put and its very saucy. Make sure you try it. Their burgers are okay but I find the bun too thick. Their coffee is really good. They also had a happy hour for 3 cocktails for 800KES. This was such a steal. Very affordable and value for money. There is also ample parking here at a fee of 50KES for the first one hour.

Like the Italians

If you want to taste real Italian pizza, this is the place to go. They pride themselves in having sort ingredients from Italy and even using the wood burning stove to make each pizza special. The problem with this method is that the quality is not always standard. The good thing about it is the same. You can get amazing pizza. There was this time I went there with my cousin. We went to the one in ABC place on Waiyaki Way. We met up in town at around 2pm and decided to get a bite from there. We used a personal vehicle but a cab from town costs 220/= We got to the place which is on the ground floor and the set up really impressed me. It looks really classy. There were a few people there. Families, some couples and even two guys having beer. We decided to sit outside on the terrace. While ordering, the waiter informed us that the food might take a while so we ordered beers. The beers cost 450/= for 500ml. We waited for about 20 minutes for our order. We got the pizza rosso steak diablo which 1350. It was amazing. I had never tasted such tender pizza. We finished a large pizza in less than 15 minutes. For pizza lovers, this is the place to spend your cash.

Everything beauty

Best lady is your one stop shop for all your needs hair or makeup. The have a large number of branches; nairobi, nakuru, meru, nyeri and thika. I think they have two branches in Nairobi CBD. I mostly go to the one in town along Moi avenue. They are known to stock all sorts of products starting with a wide variety of hair (braids, weaves and wigs). You can also find various brands of make up. Different shades in foundation for all many brands. The are fully stocked. They are also your go to place if you need hair products e.g shampoo, conditioner, oils and creams. They also sell nail products from polish to stick ons to even UV light machines. When I say this is a one stop shop I mean it. They even stock jewelry!! Their hair is of good quality. I'm usually skeptical to get things that go directly on my skin like the foundation from them due to authenticity concerns. I however get all my other items from them. They are also very affordable.Their are fully staffed with each member willing to help you find the item you are looking for. This store is everything beauty. Stop by and get yourself glammed up.

They offer delivery to your door step once you buy a product. Sometimes you may be lucky enough to get a product that has free shipping. They also have warranties on most of their goods. Jumia also offers a refund if the good you got reached you in poor condition. Their customer service is quite good too. Have you ever wonder where to go to take a a break form the hustles of the city? This is the place. This is the place you’ve been looking for. Located in Karen, 20km from Nairobi CBD, Oloolua nature trail promises to delight your eyes as it cleanses. your soul. I have been there two times. Once with my friends from school and the other with my partner. The one with my partner was more memorable. I remember it was a surprise. He called and asked if I could meet him in town in an hours time. We met up at around 10 am and he has a picnic bag with him. We took a cab from town which costs 600/= and we go dropped at the entrance. I remember my excitement. From the entrance, everything is green. Its so lovely. We paid 200/= each as entrance fee which is standards for students. Make sure you have your students ID with you. For residents, the charges are 400/= adults and 200/= children. For non-residents, charges are600/= for adults and 300/= for students. We walked for a while. Its a huge place. We got to see lots of bids and some monkeys. We got to the cave but I was a bit scared so I waited outside while he explored. Then we got this nice spot near the water fall where we had the most wonderful picnic. I smile just thinking about that day. Its a place for everyone. Be it solo walk, couples, families or friends. But for the romantic types, make a date to have a picnic here.

Train to Mombasa

The standard gauge railway is a fairly new train system in Kenya that takes the route Nairobi - Mombasa. Their station in Nairobi is located at Syokimau. They have two trains leaving the towns daily. One in the morning and one in the afternoon. They also have two types of trains; the express one or the inter county one. You get to choose to your liking. My experience with SGR is a little bit of both. For starters, the check in process is hectic with so many checkpoints included. Their seats are super uncomfortable but I suppose you are switching comfort for good time. Once on the train, the toilets are not clean at all. Please help yourself before boarding. The way they number their seats was a problem for us because we specifically asked for seats that were together and ended up seating apart and had to ask the people next to us to switch. It was so inconvenient. However it has its positives, you get to Mombasa early enough in the day to enjoy more sun and the beach. Its quite safe considering the amount of check points put before boarding the train. They also always keep time which is great. This is a quick pick if I had to choose between sitting for hours in a bus. Super affordable too with economy tickets being 1000KES and First Class being 3000KES.

Sweet house hold name

4.17

Valentine cake house is a sweet house hold name in Kenya when it comes to cake. Why sweet house hold name, because they make some of the tastiest cakes and their quality is standardized. So be it in Kisumu, Nairobi, Nakuru or Mombasa the red velvet you tasted the first time is the same tasty cake you’ll have in a different location. The one I frequent is in Nakuru 159km from Nairobi at Prime plaza. They have come through in numerous occasions be it for birthdays, weddings, graduations or just my personal consumption. I especially like their black forest cakes. They are so sweet and so spongy and soft. The cream is always on point. Not too sweet. For the black forest the sell a slice at 250/= and a kilogram at 1000/= You see that their price is also fair. To some extent I feel that I would be willing to pay more for that quality of cake. That detail to taste and quality is what has made them grow to the company they are now. I should stop by their place soon.

Super affordable taxi service

Bolt (previously known as taxify) is a transportation app to request taxis wherever you are in many town in Kenya. Bolt is in 40 countries in the world. They offer safe, reliable transport. Bolt App is found on both android and iOS. The application's design is very simple which makes it very easy to use. You just input your location and choose a destination and you'll be given an estimate of the fare. Rarely does the amount at the end of the trip become higher than the estimates. Bolt is very popular for their low rates and their numerous offers. Sometimes you'll even get a 50% discount!! The cars they use are decent. The drivers are okay but you may encounter some who are rude...I know I have. However you also get to rate your drivers. So if he does anything wrong during your trip then be sure to point it out. Although these cab services are quite safe, I encourage you to share your ETA and the whole ride with one of your friends or family to avoid cases of violence. The also have bolt protect.

necessary rebrand

Now know as ABSA, Barclays is one of the first banks in Kenya and has more than 115 outlets across the country. I was mainly used by the colonialists. Its one of those banks that everyone knows of but its not really for the people. I think that is why they are re-branding. The new look is more welcoming. The red and white and the way it sounds “ABSA” makes it feel different. Good different. I frequent their branch around KFA in Nakuru. That is where I pay my school fees. I remember how I felt when I was in the bank before the rebrand. It felt so distant. Like that place you want to leave as soon as possible. Recently I’ve been there after the rebrand and even the staff seem more jovial. The bank offers all the necessary service and there is rarely a line. They are also on the front line of mobile banking in order to reduce queueing and physical handling of cash especially after the wake of the pandemic. There spaces are usually huge and the lounge chairs are comfortable. This new look is what I like the most.

Milele Resort, located in Nakuru’s upland of Milimani 159km from Nairobi, is among the best bed and breakfast hotels in Nakuru. I have visited the resort to have lunch on a couple of occasions. The area surrounding the resort is quite serine. Its side walks are shaded by huge jacaranda trees. Its the only resort on that street, therefore, its hard to miss it. The first thing you notice when you get past the entrance are the huge buses on the parking lot. Then you get to the restaurant. It has a plain set up. Nothing memorable. Their service is something else though. The waitress was already hot on my tracks even before I was seated. I had the grilled chicken with ugali which cost 650/= At the restaurant, its pretty quite therefore suitable for business meetings. I walked around the premises, I saw that they also have a pool. Its not that huge but manageable for a family outing. They have conference rooms that charge about 5,000/= for booking. They also have single rooms ,for those looking to spend the night, that go from 7,000/= to 10,000/=. They however lack a bar. The resort is chartered by a church and therefore, no alcohol being sold. It is a good place to relax on a Sunday afternoon.

Dinner with the best ambience .

Ambience! Ambience! This has got to be the restaurant with the best ambience in Nairobi. They have branches in Village market, Waterfront Karen and one in CBD along Koinange street. Once you walk in, it will take you a minute to just take it all in. Everything is just perfect….from the decor to the staff to the food. Everything! The first time I was here was a few months after it was opened and news was all about it. We decided to try it with my best friend. We got a table on the first floor and waited for the waiter. Once the menus came, it took us some time to settle on what to eat. They have a very diversified menu. I finally decided to get the grilled chicken breast with mushroom sauce and a side of fries while she decided to have their famous southwestern quesadilla which was 1190KES. The food was as yummy as the ambience. The drinks we ordered were cocktails that were equally good. I really loved everything about this restaurant. The vibe was beautiful. The staff are truly awesome and their food even better. My friend says she really loved her meal…next time that what I’m getting for sure. Id suggest reserving a table if you want to come during peak hours. To reserve a table you need to spend more than 1500. Their prices are also very affordable as a full meal for one person might come to a total of 1600KES. Perfection!!

This store is located at Garden City Mall along Thika Road. Its on the first floor of the building. Whenever I’m in the mall and I need to do some shopping this place always comes through. Its super easy to shop here because of its well organized arrangement and very helpful staff who are ready to help. This store is very huge and sells almost everything you need. The stock household goods, groceries, electronics, stationery, health products and even some camping gear and gardening essentials. Literally everything! As you go to the cashier there is a whole line of candies and snacks that you will absolutely love. I know I always get them. The also have a well stocked liquor store inside which has many of my favorite drinks. The used to have numerous cashiers but now they have a handful which makes checking out quite slow. This is the only negative about this store as their prices are very fair compared to others. There is parking available in the mall at a fee of 50KES for the first hour. They also have numerous offers on majorly electronics. The items in this store are of very good quality and last a life time.

Karen Hospital is a renown hospital in Kenya. Its main center is in Nairobi but it has several branches in Nakuru, Nyeri, Karatina, Naivasha and Thika. It is accredited for having state of the art amenities and offering medical services at an affordable price. Its Nakuru branch is my go to place when I feel sickly. The hospital is in an ambient location. They are a multi-specialty clinic equipped with quality equipment and some of the best practitioners. It is located along Moi Road on the ground floor of Tower one( the tallest building in Nakuru) The lighting in the hospital is pretty good. This is because its entire front perimeter is made of glass. The nurse at the reception has a very comforting smile. They accept insurance from a number of companies and this makes it a favorite for many. Past the reception, you get taken to a room down the hall where they check your vitals before seeing the doctor. The branch in Nakuru is renown for its obstetrics and gynaecology services. I like their customer relation because they continually send text messages with information concerning which specialist will be in on which days and when they have heart and eye check ups. One of the best hospitals I’ve gone to.

Best Health Care in Nakuru

War memorial Hospital has got to be the best hospital in Nakuru. It has existed for so long. My mum delivered all of us here and we've gone here ever since. Their service is very remarkable. Their staff are very nice and quick to respond to all your needs. The hospital is located in Milimani, right next to PGH Annex. Once you enter the hospital, there is a desk with a nurse to assist you, however in case of an emergency, you are taken right at the entrance and catered to. The nurses here are very friendly unlike the public hospitals. They will direct you to which doctor you need to see and help you fill all the forms necessary. You also don’t have to wait a long time before you get to see the doctor. The doctors are also well qualified. He also have specialist on call who you can request to see. They have a general surgeon, an orthopedic surgeon, a wound specialist and a gynaecologist among others. They have all the equipment you will need for all procedures including a well equipped theater, laboratory and imaging centre. They take quite a number of insurance from different companies. Their well qualified staff and the good quality of health care offered here is what keeps the patients coming. Their prompt response to emergency cases saves a large number of lives. They are also open 24hours and will write for you a small note if you come past curfew so as not to get into trouble with the cops. The best Hospital in Nakuru.

Bowling is something we've always wanted to try as a group of friends so when one of us suggested checking out the new bowling place, we were all in. We took an Uber from town to village market which was 840KES. The mall itself is such a beautiful place. It was such a vibe. We found our way to the bowling alley soon after going through the stores around. There were quite a number of people so we waited for out turn. We waited so longgggg. I got the vibe that they let the white people go first. That was just my experience though some of my friends who have gone have had the same. We then paid 500KEs per person and were given our shoes. And the game begun. The village bowl has about 11 lanes. It was so much fun we even forgot the kind of service they had. Each person got a turn and their score was recorded on the screen above us. It got so competitive. My team managed to win The place is so much fun. A great place for family game nights since the have an option for children. It was a fun experience especially when you are with a great group of friends. This place has ample parking at a fee, numerous restaurants in the mall with a wide variety of food from different cultures to choose from.

Located in Gilgil in Nakuru County 145km from Nairobi off the Nakuru-Nairobi highway, The Shiners Boys High School is among most sort after private boarding schools in the county. From the highway, you can see the school entrance, so it is very difficult to miss it. With consistent good performances over the past 10 years, parents and their children alike are quite keen on securing a spot in the school. The fees per term is in the range of 60,000/= to 100,000/=. This is quite hefty to many but they do guarantee return on investments with good results and a good network. I have been there once to try find my cousin a school. The school’s main colors are green and white. The set up of the school is in such a way that the classes start from the reception area for form 1 and the furthest classes are the form 4’s. Apart from education, they also have brilliant co-curricular activities with their rugby team always being a side to reckon with in the inter school games. For both curricular and non-curricular, this is a great school to be in.

It has an old rustic look from the exterior design to the interior which has wooden floors. The club house consists of a restaurant, lounge rooms and an outdoor bar. The club also offers several amenities for its members including a modern health and fitness center, a pool, sauna, lawn tennis, soccer and a jogging track. I usually go there for the gym services and swimming. The gym is pretty huge. It can hold more than 20 people at a time and it has a lot of equipment. There is no time that I have found it packed. The instructor is friendly but assertive. I also enjoy the food at the restaurant. You can choose to seat in the club house or on the balcony. The meals get deducted off the membership card which you pay 12,000/= per year to service. I like the ambience and the friendly waiters. Its in its own way, a hidden gem.

The first time i went here, it was my sisters birthday and we decided to have dinner there. We settled on the branch at Garden City along Thika road since it was the closest to us. This is a few minutes from town and an Uber will cost you around 800KES. The minute you enter the restaurant you'll notice it's very chilled vibes. The decor and ambience are minimal but very stylish. The minute we sat down, a waiter approached our table and handed us the menus. Their staff are very friendly. We asked for some wine before we decided on what to order. Once we settled on what we wanted, the food didn't take that long despite there being quite a number of people. I ordered the prawns tagliatelle which was 1390KES. This meal was heavenly. My sister had their Texas burger, it was huge.!!! The burger was 1100KES and came with a side of fries. Everything was very yummy. After our meal, we had their salted caramel cake. It was super nice when they asked to put 'happy birthday' one her plate of cake. We ordered more wine off course. Our bill came to a total of about 4000KES. It was value for money. This place has ample parking at a fee. It also gets quite full during peak hours so avoid that if you can. They also have numerous offers running through the month. Some on breakfast deals and happy hours- buy two for one cocktails.

They put so much effort into it. The ambience is amazing and the music they play is ever a mood. They have umbrellas hang on the ceiling and that is the first thing you notice. They also have different vibes of the week, karaoke night is so much fun. Their service is really good with the waiters respond to your requests on time. Their cocktails, which go from 700/= to 1000/=, are yummy and hit the spot. They usually have a happy hour and you can get two of your favorite cocktails at the price of one. Their food is very nice too. I used to frequent this joint before the pandemic on Sundays with a few friends and it's always a good time. Had to get extra biryani

This restaurant is located in the middle of the city. It's on Kimathi street. This is a restaurant that is a popular among people who work in town. Their interior is very nice and simple. The moment you walk in you are assisted by one of the staff members in finding a table. It was around lunch time so it was pretty full. As soon as we were seated,a waiter approached us with menus to take our order. The staff are very polite and smiley. The food you order does not take more than 10 minutes to rich your table. The biryani ,which costs 950/=, was so yummy and the portions were so generous. I had it with a cold passion juice which cost 200/=. My friends ordered pilau which costs 650/= and I can say that they were equally satisfied. There is no parking allocated this this restaurant so you'll have to park around at a fee charged by the county. Kilimanjaro restaurant is a great place to go to for quick business lunches . I recommend reserving if you'll come by during lunch rush hour. I still can’t believe I got another biryani to go.

Chicken inn has yummy chicken. Its in their DNA. I can have chicken inn 4 times a week. But won’t because I’m watching my weight. For that quick crunchy tasty chicken, most Nairobian trust in chicken inn. It is one of the biggest fast food franchises in Kenya. If you go to any chicken inn at lunch time, you are sure to find a line. Some days you find couples on dates having chicken, other days you find families having chicken buckets. You also find some guys sitting alone having chicken. They sell one piece at 100/= For fries and one piece of chicken it costs 200/= You can get this with a 2 liter Fanta that goes for 220/= Let me tell you about their special sauce. They have this hot and sweet chilli sauce that goes for 20/= and comes in a cute packet. This sauce is sweet. Its mind blowing sweet. When you get it on chicken, you can’t get enough. The chicken inn I frequent is in Highview. It’s close to my place and a cab from town costs 250/= It is in a big place and so privacy and ambience is present. But the chicken, the chicken is constant and it is tasty. You got to love that chicken

This marine park is located 118km from Mombasa in a town called Malindi. The marine park in in the beautiful Indian ocean is one of the oldest in Kenya. We journeyed from watamu which is about 45 minutes to malindi. I have never experienced anything so beautiful. We were picked up by our tour guide at around 9am. We were there around 10 and our day at the ocean started. We were asked to change into our costumes for those who had not already in them. The washrooms were not clean. Once changed we were shown which boat was ours. We paid 1500/= for the boat. We took numerous pictures by the beach as we waited for our tour guide to finish up with the payment. Remember not to carry any plastic bottles into the ocean for conservation. I think the payment made was around 500KES per person for entrance. The ocean was just so beautiful, you get to see so many different fish through the glass floor of the boat. I absolutely loved the experience. The snorkeling was a bit scary at first but once I got the hang of it, I enjoyed it. I got to see a wide variety of fish. We got to eat plenty of sea food also. The day was so fulfilling. This place is a must go in coast.

I love that even though the supermarket is huge you can always find what you are looking for. The members of their staff is also very helpful. They have a deli and a liquor store in the store. Their deli produces very fresh food and I'm a lover of their wings. They are so juicy. Their prices are very good considering the quality you get. Their wings go for 500KES for about 20 wings. Their lasagna is quite good too. The liquor store here is usually fully stocked. They also have a huge selection of wine. This restaurant is hyped for their burgers. They have a few branches in Nairobi, TRM and capital center among others. Parking here is paid for at 50/= per hour. I've gone to the branch at trm and I wasn't to impressed. I walked in into the restaurant and found a table for my 3 friends. We didn’t wait long till the waiters came and handed us our menus. The place is very clean and very chilled ambience or vibe. It wasn’t very full but it took some time to get our food. They also confused our order and brought something that we didn’t order. Even after asking about it, the waiter did not switch the orders and my friend opted to eat it as it was. We had their burgers, each one a different type. I think I had the crunchy chicken burger which goes for 800/=. It was good but I really didn’t like the whole meal in general. My friend who had ordered a Texas burger which goes for 950/= and liked it. Their burgers come with a side of fries. I think their service may need some work but the place in general is okay. They usually have offers for burgers on Mondays for BOGOF though you have to wait for sometime for your food on this day. Maybe I'll try their branch in capital center

Nairobi's best night life

You don’t know nairobi night life if you haven't been to 1824. This club which is a garage during the day, will make your nights in nairobi lit. It is located in Langata and an uber will cost you about 300KES. The set up is quite simple with barrels as tables and stools. Their service is great considering the number of people that are in the club. They are popularly known for their Thursdays, they usually have celebrity djs frequently playing here. Their staff are very fast to assist. This place is usually completely full and sometimes you wont even get sitting space so arrive before 10pm. There was a time we weren't even allowed in because it was completely full. I find their prices relatively fair with a bottle of liquor starting from 4500..they also have ample parking if you come early enough... the security is good but make sure to keep your personal belongings safe because many people loose their phones here. Their cocktails are yummy and they hit the spot. They range from 700KES-1100KES. This is definitely the place if you are looking to have a crazy night

Crazy for chicken

Chicken!!! This chain of fast food restaurant, known for their great chicken, has branches in many towns in Kenya and numerous in Nairobi. Their ambience and decor are uniform across all their branches but I especially like the one at The Hub Karen. The have theme of white and red and very modern sitting arrangement with booths in some of their branches. The parking here is not free. They have a self service system where you pay for your food at the counter and given a receipt. You then wait for a few minutes to collect your food. This is your ideal fast food because you don’t need to wait for long. Their food is the best chicken I've had. I normally get either the streetwise 7 which goes for 1500KES or the bawa bucket that goes for 1600KES. These packages come with fries and soda. I always enjoy every last bit of it. They also sell different flavors of Krusher. I really like the Oreo or Kitkat one. They are so thick and the brain freeze!!! KFC is a place I go to or order in for my comfort food. It's super easy to know what you want. I always get the same thing. I think I'll get myself some now...

Located in Milimani, Nakuru this hotel has such a great view of the whole town and the lake. The sunsets are quite a sight too. I had my birthday dinner here and invited a few friends. The restaurant at the roof top is quite a good spot. There is ample lighting for all your pictures. Their ambience is subtle but the view is everything. Their service is slow and you'll have to wait for more than 30minutes for your food. However, this is totally worth it. The food is very tasty and they have very generous portions. We ordered a variety of food that day to accommodate everyone. I specifically loved their chicken and lamb chops, they were so tender and juicy. Their naan bread was yummy too. Everything was arranged so well and the staff were right there to help whenever they could. I cant forget the sunset. Sometimes I just go there to have a drink and enjoy the view. They also have free parking in the premises. Their rooms are super clean and their bed is comfortable. They charged us 8500 for two people in a standard room. Their breakfast was really good and delivered to our room. This hotel is great for dates, families and group of friends.

wedding at the lake

Lake Naivasha, located 97km form Nairobi CBD, is another area of tourist attraction within the Great Rift Valley. It is from the maasai name Nai’posha meaning rough water. The story is that the winds causes the water to rise at times and have rough waves. Wildlife such a hippos reside in the shallow waters of the lake. You can go for a boat ride at a cost of 1500/= and get very close to those huge creatures. There are also over 450 species of birds around the lake. The stay on the yellow barked Acacia Xanthophle that fill the shores of the lake. That many species of birds make Lake Naivasha a major source of international tourism. There are a lot resorts and lodges around Lake Naivasha and therefore, if you are looking to visit, you will surely find something that suits your needs. Over the holidays, I got the chance to visit Lake Naivasha Resort for my cousin’s wedding. That place is beautiful. It is a huge resort right next to the lake. The lawn is beautifully manicured with Acacai trees in strategic locations . The resort has a huge pool that charges 500/= for swimming. The rooms in the resort range from 20,000/= to 25,000/= per night. I would highly recommend a stay at the Lake Naivasha Resort.

If you are in Nairobi and you are in the proximity of your friends, for sure you have going for paintball. If you haven’t, make a point as soon as possible. I would completely recommend. The the laughs, the spills, the pain, the winning and the losing. For my best friend’s birthday, we decided to see what all the hype for paintball is all about. We booked the one at waterfront. It costs 1500/= per person for 1hr 30 minutes of play. A cab from Nairobi CBD costs 650/= We were to be there by 11am but you know african timing, we got there a 12:30 and found that our slot had been taken. That was a bummer but the guys there we generous enough to slot us in after the group that were currently playing. We got more than enough time to meet the instructors, be instructed on safety rules, put on the overalls, chose team captains and the respective groups. We were also shown how to use the guns and were each given 150 paintballs. The way the place is designed with jungle terrain, it looks like a scene from a shooting game. The goal is to take the flag of the competing team. Pretty easy right? When the paintball hit me, I remember screaming. I can’t remember if it was pain or just the thrill. This is a very good team building activity and a must redo for me.

Airbnbs at the lake

Lake Elementaita, located on the Rift Valley 130km from Nairobi CBD, is the least visited among all the other lakes on the rift. This is because most of the land around the lake is privately owned. The most known location around lake elementaita is the Soysambu conservancy. When visiting the conservancy, you can experience day and night game drives, quad biking, horse riding on the shore of the lake and bird watching. Apart from visiting the conservancy, there is an upcoming trend around Lake Elementaita that I have experience. There are airbnbs where you book and spend a night or two in cottages next to the lake. The airbnb I booked charged 20,000/= per night but it was such a great experience. It was my friend’s birthday and we decided to have it in lake elementaita. We booked 2 weeks in advance. You pay half when booking and the other half 1 day before you arrieve. The payment catered for accommodation in the 5 bedroom cottage, a chef to cook all your meal while you are there and a bonfire. The privacy in the cottages allows for great time with friends, as lovers and even families book airbnbs in lake elementaita to have a holiday there. It was so much fun. There was even a consensus on the day that we were leaving, to pay for one more day. Sadly, it had been booked so we couldn’t extend our stay. I’d recommend you try the airbnbs in Lake Elementaita at least once.

A location worth of the movies

Interesting fact, this is the park where the timeless movie Lion King was filmed. Also The Tomb Raider was filmed in Hells Gate. This tells you about its popularity both for local and international tourists. It is popular for its wildlife, its huge cliffs and its gorges. When visiting, options are plenty. It is located in Kiambu county 134km from Nairobi CBD. You can choose to go for a game drive for a cost of 1800/= per cruiser, or picnics at 250/= per head or cycling which costs 1000/= per bike but if you bring your own bike, you’ll only pay 200/=. While cycling around the park you can pass by the zebras and giraffes. I remember my visit there on a class trip, we visited one of the water-gouged gorges and we got to swim in one. This is strictly under supervision when the water levels are low. I really enjoyed that particular experience. Although there is not much wildlife, you can take part in hiking, camping and canyon walking. There some places where the canyon is 30 meters high. The view there is mind blowing. But you have to be careful and always be accompanied by a guide. Its a remarkable and memorable place to visit.

This is a locally owned cloth store and that should speak of the taste of clothes within the store. The offer a variety of clothing from men to women to teens and infants. They also have a variety of footwear especially for women. The have two stores that I have visited. One in Thika Road Mall and the other in Two Rivers. I especially prefer the one in Thika Road Mall because of its convenience. A cab from my place to the mall costs 220/= The store is huge and covers two floors. Connecting the two stores is an escalator within the store. How cool is that? The store is rarely full and therefore its a breeze shopping even window shopping. The kids and ladies have their things on the ground floor. The changing rooms are plenty and are huge with beautiful lighting and mirrors from head to toes. It makes it fun to try out different clothes. The usually have offers I think once or twice a month. On a good discount day, you can come out of there with two or three pieces for almost 2000/= The quality of their clothes are also good. I bought a sun dress a month ago and it still looks and feels brand new. I would recommend this store for official wear and pieces that you won’t find everyone with in the street.

durability and quality to style your feet

Over 150 stores in Kenya. That should tell you about their history, their roots, their quality and their reach in Kenyan households. I have been a customer since long before I can remember. Going up in Kenya, the mandatory school shoes were bata toughees. These are black leather shoes. They had no competition then and therefore, anyone who could afford school shoes wore bata. I remember the excitement whenever my mom would take me to buy new shoes. I didn’t get new school shoes very often and this is because those shoes were top quality. Imagine wearing shoes for most of the calendar year, playing with them those children games and still not having to replace them for a whole year. What was this sorcery. But this is the story every other customer will tell you. Bata and quality go hand in hand. They also sell other variety of shoes including sneakers, doll shoes, slippers, slide and so much more all ranging from 200/= to 4000/=. If you walk into a bata store, you are sure to leave with a pair that you will like. Their customer service should also be bench marked. They are polite and jovial. They help you get what you are looking for, look for your size and package it for you. Every experience in a bata store is quite pleasant

A different looking hotel

Majid restaurant, located in Nakuru CBD 159 km from Nairobi, is the home of Swahili, Asian and African cuisine. It is located on Inder Singh road and if you are not keen, you're sure to miss it. I took a break from work the other day and decided to have lunch there. I got there at around 1pm and the place was packed. Like there was only one table available. They must be really good, I thought to myself. The place looks different from any hotel I’ve been in. Like it is from another culture. It has a lovely blend of brown and gold. The lights are warm and it has a lot of those because there is very little natural light. Past the entrance, I walk past a number of tables. Its not a huge place but its arrangement allows for space maximization. I took my seat at the corner and a neatly dressed waiter approached me with a warm greeting. Everything seemed so busy. I ordered pilau special which cost 250/= and a glass of passion juice which cost 120/= I could tell that they had plenty of orders to fill but amazingly I got my food in less than 20 minutes. The food was delicious. But it was the juice for me. I have never tasted such fresh and sweet passion juice. I still go there for juice every once in a while. I’d recommend this place for all my juice lovers

A break from the city life

Nairobi National Park, located in Karen 15 minutes from Nairobi CBD, is quite unique as it is the only park in a country’s capital city. A cab from the CBD costs 650/= There is also the option of using public transport which is way cheaper. To add to its wonder, there is also an animal orphanage right next to the park. I visited the park with my cousins during the holidays. It was on a Thursday afternoon. When we got there, there weren’t so many cars around. During the weekends you can find the place packed with families and friends. There is a huge parking lot outside the entrance where you can leave the car. There is also the option of entering the park with your car which they charge 1800/= per car. This is the option we choose. We decided not to have a tour guide since we’ve been there a couple of times. As soon a you enter the park, you feel the breath of fresh air from the hustles of the city. It is quiet and serene. And the park has the tall city buildings as its background. I never get used to seeing that. I remember seeing the giraffe first. I love giraffes. They are so graceful and majestic. While touring we also got to see buffaloes and hyenas and like 2 lions. This is a good place to break from the city life.

Different location, same tasty pizza

Milele Mall is located in Ngong which is a 1 hour drive from Nairobi CBD. It’s a huge mall and the only one in Ngong. I was in Ngong visiting my uncle. At almost 6pm, I decided to take my small cousins to have pizza at pizza inn in Milele Mall. It was Tuesday and you know Tuesdays are for terrific Tuesdays. This is when they have the offer of two pizzas for the price of one. Pizza inn is a household name for many Kenyans. They have numerous branches all over Nairobi and in Mombasa and Kisumu. It took us about 5 minutes from my uncle’s place to the mall. My cousins were so excited to taste the pizza. Pizza inn has a stylish decor with many colors. For seats they have booths and table for twos and fours. As usual, on Tuesdays, the human traffic I mad at pizza inn. Kenyans love their pizza. We had to wait in line for 10 minutes to make our order. We chose the large pepperoni pizza and chicken tikka. The large pizza goes for 1100/=, medium for 900/= and small for 600/= We also too a a 2 liter fanta orange which goes for 220/= The service is pretty good also. You pay and you are given a receipt with a waiting time. It took 15 minutes for us to get our order. That was pretty fast considering the number of people. We were to eat at home but the aroma was so intense in the car, we decided to start there. It was delicious, as usual.

Merica Hotel, located on Kenyatta Avenue Nakuru 159km from Nairobi, is perhaps the most famous hotel in Nakuru. Located in the heart of Nakuru, Merica hotel stands tall to welcome both the local and those visiting Nakuru. I was there for lunch with my folks over the weekend. The parking is right in front of the hotel. When parking, you have to pay for county parking which costs 100/= We approached the entrance and the glass doors slid open. Pretty cool. This place looks really classy. The first thing I noticed were these five huge bronze clocks showing times from Beijing, New York, Berlin, Britain and Tokyo. Then there is a transparent elevator on the left leading to the rooms which range from 7,000/= to 14,000/= We walked past the reception to the restaurant where they were having a buffet. The restaurant is very classy with brown tables and chairs for twos and fours. I saw one couple on a date and some guys with laptops probably having a business meeting. We decided to sit outside where they have this huge pool were they charge 400/= for swimming. I saw some children swimming and their parents watching form a distance. The waiter was hot on our tail with the menu. That should say something about their service. I ordered steamed tilapia with ugali which cost 1200/= , my dad got mukimo and beef stew which cost 550/= and my mum got the grilled chicken with rice which cost 850/=. I enjoyed the meal and the ambience. If you are ever in Nakuru, pop in and experience Merica

Java House Karen is one of my favorite location to have solo lunches and read books. Java is a household name throughout Kenya. They usual have this slogan that where you go, when you enter a java store it feels familiar, it feels like home. That is why they use the same décor in every store. I like this particular branch first of all because of its proximity to home. And the structure is stylish and homey. It looks amazing. When you walk into the building you notice the same stylish look. The burgundy walls and the paintings. I usually seat at the booth but they also offer tables for two and fours. My favorite meal is the fries and grilled chicken which goes for 750/= The cakes are also really good and a slice of cake goes for 300/=. Coffees range from 170/= to 370/= while milkshake range within 450/= Java is so peaceful. I could stay there all day.

I went there for a date with my boyfriend on a Saturday afternoon. We took a cab from Milimani which cost us 150/= and dropped us off at the entrance. The entrance is quite artistic with the name written is this beautiful graffiti. On entering, I first notice they have a chalk board where they have written their day’s special. Then I noticed how the blend of brown on the walls and the tables and chairs is synonymous to it being a coffee house. The have art pieces on the wall which blend so well with the décor. The main counter is at the far end from the entrance and it also has graffiti of the cafe’s name. We decided to go sit up stair, for some privacy of course. There they have some table for two and booths. As soon as we settled in, a waitress approached us with the warmest smile and offered us the menu. I had the chicken shawarma for 350/= with vanilla milkshake for 200/= while my boyfriend had the chips masala for 200/= and a coke for 100/=. Their service is a bit slow but the food is mind blowing. I had to take another shawarma as take out. I liked the whole vide but the food was my favorite part.

Team building at the castle

Lord Egerton Castle, located in Ngata Farm, 173km from Nairobi CBD and 26 minutes from Nakuru town, is a timeless structure that is of much admiration. A cab from Nakuru CBD costs 500/=. I went there for team building with my classmates. We took a bus. We turned of the main highway to a marram road. It took us 2 minutes to reach the entrance of the castle. It was on a Saturday and there we two other buses there a handful of personal vehicles. From the entrance you notice the splendid structure with its rustic look. A fee of 150/= was charged per head for entrance and the bus parked at a lot just outside the castle’s entrance. Alighting from the bus, I could hear music from a far. Later on I learned that there is a grand piano in the castle whose music can be heard from 2km away. The lawn was well manicured. I could see a group of about 15 people playing hop skip and jump. We proceed to the castle’s door where we were joined by John who was our guide. On entering, I noticed there we so many painting. At least 2 per wall. The chandelier was huge and the chairs were old but well maintained. It was a lot to take in. As we went from room to room in the 52 roomed house, John told us the story behind the castle. That is was build for Lord Egerton’s fiancée who later left him. It was a sad story. We got to see the grand piano and a dark room where he developed his photos. After the tour, we started on our group activities at the lawn. I also saw some couples sitting under the shades having picnics. The have kiosks outside the entrance to get snacks and souvenirs. I had a great time.

Lake Nakuru National Park, located in Nakuru County 159km from Nairobi CBD and 15 minutes from Nakuru Town, is known for its pink flamingos which swarm half of the lake at times. A cab from Nakuru town costs 450/= I was there with my family over the festive season. It has the first gate which brought us to the parking lot and reception and the next which leads to the park. At the parking lot, I got to feed some monkeys and I could see many of the other tourists doing the same. There was even an entire church bus which had brought its members to the park. We paid 1800/= to take the 7 seater land cruiser, a driver and a tour guide. I’m glad I had carried my camera because there were so much wildlife to see. We spotted buffaloes then a few meters away there was a herd of gazelles. Those gazelles look so elegant. We also got to see a chase between a lioness and an antelope. I have never felt so excited in my life. We passed drove through the shore of the lake where we got to see a handful of flamingos. The guide told us that most of the flamingos had migrated. We were then take to this spot called the baboon cliff. From there you can see much of the pack since it is in a raised location. There were a lot of baboons there and we got to feed them. A tip, when you visit this place, carry a lot of bananas because there is a lot of feeding to do. I can’t wait to visit again.

Menengai Crater, located in Nakuru 159km from Nairobi town and 20 minutes from Nakuru CBD, provides the most scenic view of the Rift Valley Crater. Due to the conditions of the road, it is not advisable to use a cab. Preferably biking, hiking or a 4 by 4 vehicles should be used depending on the route used. On my visit there, we went hiking with a handful of my friends. We started early since its almost a 2km climb to the top of the crater. A tip, wear good shoes for hiking and carry water because it gets really hot during the day when hiking. At the entrance we were charged 200/= per head. They charge non residents 500/= We did not use a guide since the path is clearly shown. There are some places it gets steep and you have to be weary but most of the climb was smooth and the only non enjoyable thing is getting tired. There was a point we reached that we were able to see the whole of Nakuru Town and The Lake Nakuru. It was such a beautiful sight. We got to the top in about 3 hours. The view from there is mind blowing. Words fail to explain the beauty and splendour of the crater. There, we got to buy some souvenirs from curios shops owned by locals. They were so cheerful and welcoming. If you are hiking, be mindful of time and start the way back giving yourself at least 3 hour of day time allowance. We got back at around 4pm and I remember how beat I was. All in all, the view is to die for and I wouldn't mind making the climb again.

A gate away within the city

Paradise lost, located in Nairobi along Kiambu road 20 minutes from the city center, is a spot that in the wake of covid19 has provided an outdoor environment for city dwellers to have picnics, dates and even parties. An uber from the CBD costs 570/= The first time I went there was on a Saturday afternoon. We drove to the location with a few of my friends. You go off road for about 5 minutes to get to the entrance. The sign posts along the road a very helpful. Kudos to them. At the entrance, there was a queue of about 5 cars. We were charged 400/= per head. Once we were in we drove for a few meters and the parking lot starts. The good thong about this place is that you pack wherever you want. It is a large field with benches on one side. On the other side, near the pond, there is a restaurant build like a lake house. We decided to go to the furthest end of the place where we parked right next to some benches and tables. Around us I could see a family having a picnic. There was also this guy and a lady having food over drinks. We quickly settled in and I went to get food and drinks. I bought fries for 120/=, chips masala for 180/= and half chicken for 400/=, I also managed to but a bottle of jack daniels for 3500/= and a 2 liter soda at 180/= The rest of the afternoon was wonderful. No one infringes on your space and you can carry a speaker to listen to music or use the car stereo. As is was getting dark, more people were streaming in. I had a really good time that day. I’ll be sure to go there soon.

Lennz pizza, located in Nakuru 159km from Nairobi, is hands down the best pizza and burger joint in Nakuru County. It is a favorite for many in Nakuru for lunch dates, family outings and even deliveries. It is located on Gusii Road and the branding on its entrance makes it hard to miss it. As you approach the entrance, the smell of pizza lingers and a lot of times, I have fallen for the temptation of entering the joint even if it was not in my days plan. The joint has a chill vibe. When you walk in, the counter is on your left with a big board on top of the counter with a list of the pizza and burgers with their various prices. On your right is the sitting area. It consists of tables of twos and fours. Directly opposite the entrance is the pizza oven. I think they put it there strategically so that you want a pizza as soon as you get in. The pizza go for 650/= for small, 800/= for medium and 1200/ for large. The have a variety of flavors but my favorite is the Chicken Tikka with extra cheese. They charge 200/= for extra toppings. I don’t know what they put on this particular flavor but I think I’m addicted to it. On Thursdays they have an offer for buy one pizza and get one free. So on Thursday its usually packed. The service is constant. 15 minutes for an order to arrive and the waitresses are very friendly and always smiling. I would recommend this joint any day.

Tasty food and service innovation

Chicken Baristo, located on Club Road opposite Rift Valley Sports Club in Nakuru 159km from Nairobi, is famous spot for for is tasty chicken and burgers. I have visited it a couple of times. The building itself is huge. Pretty huge for a fast food joint but the size provides for such inside that each table can have its privacy. Its environment is quiet as compared to a normal fast food joint and this allows for many of its customers to conduct business meetings within its premises. It is also suitable for family outings with tables for 8 and long booths available. There are also tables for twos which allow for dates. This is an all inclusive place. Their service is spot on. They have two buttons on each table. One for when you want to order and the other for when you want your bill. This is a feature I like very much. The food takes roughly 10 to 15 minutes to be prepared. They offer an array of dishes but my favorite include the Beef Burger which goes for 600/=, the chips masala which goes for 200/= and the Baristo shake which goes for 400/= Their food is always fresh and juicy. I recommend this for all the fast food lovers in Nakuru and those visiting Nakuru.

My go to place since I was young

Optica is my store of choice for all my optical needs. I've been wearing glasses since high school and this place has provided me with so many products till now. They have so many types of frames ranging from as low as less than 1000KES and as high as 30000KES. Their service is the best and they accept a wide range of insurance covers while making a purchase. You are welcomed the moment you enter the door after a security check and then directed to where you'll be assisted. They also offer free eye checkups for their customers . All you require is to pay 100 and you get your checkups free for a lifetime. They also have so many doctors to attend to you. The branch located in town has no parking however the one at garden city has parking for 50KES for 1 hour. I usually get my contacts here too. They offer contacts from different companies but will always guide you through to get your perfect fit. They also teach you how to put them. The members of their staff are quite friendly and very willing to help. The products I've gotten from here are my glasses, some shades and contacts. All the products I get from here last years especially the glass. Good quality, even better price.

A cab costs 200/= We got to the entrance and the design of the hotel and the huge SAROVA WOODLANDS golden sign gives you a glimpse of the luxury I was about to experience. It was on a Wednesday evening and I could see a few cars on the lot. Don’t let that fool you, if you come here on Saturday of Sunday, you will find a tonne of people. Families at the pool areas that charges 500=/ per head, guys at the bar, tourists booking rooms that vary between 14,000/= to 25,000/= per night and couples having dates at the restaurant. We walked to the restaurant. They call it the Cinnamon restaurant. It is beautifully lit. Cream walls, brown tables and brown and turquoise seats. As soon as we were seated, a waiter approached us with a smile and offered us the menu. What to eat for an anniversary? I had the grilled spring chicken which goes for 1750/=. I am yet to taste a more delicious grilled chicken. My boyfriend had the pork chops which go for 1950/= The service was delightful. The moved with such grace. After dinner, we strolled through the swimming pool and had a night cap at the bar. I felt special. That was an anniversary to remember.

Carrefour is quite popular in Kenya. It has two branches in Nairobi at TRM and Two rivers and one branch in mombasa at City mall. Their store next to highway mall along uhuru highway is a favourite of mine. It's called the Carrefour Mega and it is nothing less. The place is huge and has been arranged so well. The first time I was there I was just from the highway wall and was waiting for my uber driver when I decided to pop by. The staff are many. They also have many cashiers so there are no queues which is a plus for me. There are a few express counters for people who want to buy less than 10 items. They have such a wide range of products from household goods, beauty , food and fresh groceries. Their prices are very fair and I find them cheaper than most supermarkets. They also have numerous offers that are up to 40% off. These offers are on a long list of products e.g furniture, food, and electronics. The quality of their products is what keeps me coming back. They also have parking at the store that you pay for. The location of their Carrefour Mega is also quite convenient.

Tasty wings then shopping

When I think quickmart I think of their signature sticky wings. This chain of supermarkets is the fastest growing in Kenya. All the stores throughout Kenya are designed similarly with glass exterior that you can see inside the store. They have so many branches all over kenya. I most go to the branch at kahawa sukari. Although quite small, the store is arranged very well. There is a mandatory security check before entering. Once you enter you are welcomed with the smell of baked goods. The deli sells many types of foods not only junk food. Their wings are to die for. They also have really yummy spring rolls which have options of either beef or chicken for 60KES. The also have a bakery. Their liqueur store is on the 1st floor. Their prices are quite affordable as many university students in the area go here for all their needs. They also have free parking opposite it. The cashiers are not many so the queue in the evening are so long. So avoid the evening rush hour. Their customer service is quite good as their desk is located right next to the entrance. This supermarket also has a modern way of getting shopper points using an app. This makes it super convenient and fast. This supermarket is my go to place for all my needs.

For all your school needs and more

This is usually my go to place right before school opens. Textbook centre is a chain of stores open all over the city. They have a branch at Garden City, Two Rivers, The Hub and also the junction. They are usually open from 8am -5pm. This store is well known for it wide range of products. They sell stationery any all school supplies. I normally frequent the branch at Garden City before my semester starts. This branch has excellent service and the staff are ready to help you find anything in the store. The books they sell are of very good quality and always in great condition. I got numerous art supplies here last month and even got free delivery for goods worth more than 2000KES. Their paint is legit!! This was very convenient for me. And everything was packed so nicely. The last book I got here was "The Art of Happiness" by Dalai Lama. They have cute notebooks for around 400KES. They sell a range of electronics like laptops and printers. I find their items affordable. This shop is a once stop shop for all your stationery requirements.

Tate ambience, taste good food

Located on 7th floor One Africa Place, Waiyaki Way, Nairobi. This place has got to be one of my favourite places. Being on the 7th floor, the view is breathtaking. I went there with my friend for dinner and I must say it's perfect. Picture perfect. From the moment you walk in you will notice that they have paid attention to their decor and the detail in this place is crazy. We had reserved a table next to the windows and got there at around 6pm. The way the sky changes colour during this time is a sight to behold.I suggest you make a reservation as this place get really full during evenings. The view of the city from the restaurant is the best part. This place is very Instagram worthy. The service is remarkable with little or no waiting time to be served. They have a range of cocktails to choose from and don’t get me started on the food. They have happy hour from 3-7pm and you get 2 cocktails for every two you buy. The cocktails range from 900KES-1250KES. The prices here are not so affordable with meals ranging from 1000KES-2500KES. This place is a must go if you are in Nairobi.

Most Juicy burgers

This joint is located in Manohar Centre along Mpaka road, Westlands. An uber from town costs around 250KES and a matatu taken from odeon will charge you 50KES at most. You can easily miss this place as it's very hidden. It has existed for ages, Once you walk in, you'll notice the place is not well put. The ambience and decor is wanting but the food makes up for that and more. Their burgers are to die for!!! This place has the best burgers in town. Their service is remarkable with their staff always smiley and ready to serve. I always have the double chicken cheese burger with fries. The patty is well cooked and juicy. This burger goes for 700KES and the Chips masala is 200KES. The burger is so juicy and so cheesy. You can get fries with your burger at an extra cost. Their prices are super affordable with meals being 1000KES for one person including drinks. Burger hut has very good service and is rarely full hence no reservation required. My go to place for burgers in nairobi

Home away from home

Java house is a chain of restaurants that is all over east Africa. They have majority of branches in Kenya. Java always feels like home. Their ambience is warm with a rustic touch to it. The music they play is quite calming and mostly slow jazz. They all have the same décor across the country. I usually like to sit in the booths as there is more privacy that way .I'm always super excited to find a java when traveling but I usually go to the branch in Adams Arcade. An uber from town is 400KES. There are other branches in other areas e.g garden city, TRM, hurlinghum among others. There is always a java near you. Their service is really good and you do not have to wait long before you are served. Their staff are very friendly and always willing to assist.. Java is well known for their coffee and cakes. Their Chocolate Fudge cake is a must try tbh. Best by far I've ever had. The prices are very fair with a meal for 2 people being around 2500KES. They also have managed to make their food standard no matter where in the country you are. My go to place for a solo date at the corner reading my favorite book.

Bike ride in the forest

Karura Forest in Nairobi is one of the most sort after location by the city dwellers for bird watching, picnics, hiking and biking. Weather it is a family outing, a date or team building, Karura Forest has something for everyone. A cab from Nairobi City Center costs 320/= I was there over the weekend with my elder brother. We decided to try out biking. We leave close by so we just took a stroll to the entrance. It was on a Thursday afternoon. We got there and there were only a few cars parked. On Saturdays and Sundays, it is usually packed with families having picnics and all. We pain 500/= per person for 2 bikes for 2 hours. The place offers other services like picnics costs 150/= per head, walks cost 100/= per person, a tour with a tour guide costs 300/= per head. So my brother decided we do the 10km instead of the shorter 5km. At first I was super pumped but let me tell you, 3 km in, I had to rest for 15 minutes to catch my breath. The catch is, the first few kilometers is down hill through the forest. Then you pass where river Nairobi passes though and from there its an upwards climb. It was so exciting cycling through nature and listening to the birds and the water rushing plus we took some cool photos. But the ride back was the most exhausting thing I have done in my life. If you choose to go, make sure you carry water and that you are kinda fit. I enjoyed the whole experience.

The University of chioce

The University of Nairobi, with the main campus in Nairobi CBD, is without a doubt the best University in East Africa. Many of Kenyas great leaders have come from this university. The main campus is in the CBD but the one I have visited is the School Of Business which is located in Lower Kabete (14km from the main campus). A cab from city center to lower kabete costs 800/= Lower Kabete in itself is a posh estate with jacaranda trees and manicured lawns going for kilometers. It is therefor no shock that this campus has the most serene environment I have ever seen in a campus. I took a matatu which costs 50/= from city center. The entrance to the campus is huge. It is hard to miss it with the School of Business title written in bold on the perimeter wall. I alighted the matatu and went on ahead to the security check. The guards are very friendly but thorough. The have to know your purpose for visiting the campus and you have to should a form of identification. This campus is beautiful. From the entrance everything is green. Tall jacaranda trees on all the main paths. You can stroll through the whole campus with the trees shading you from the sun. Immediately after the entrance to your left, there is a huge lecture hall. I saw a class of about 50 students having a class at the time. On your right is the receptions and an administration block. I walked to the administration and the secretary was so eager to meet my needs. From a far you can see a huge soccer pitch which boarder a block of hostel. I think the students in this campus really enjoy the peace in this place. Its nothing like I’ve seen before.

Mololine has got to be the most known transport service in Kenya. Popularly known for its numerous routes throughout the country. This transport agency goes to Nairobi, Nakuru, Kericho, Kisumu, Eldoret, Kitale, Eldama Ravine, Kabarnet, Mombasa, Busia,Migori,Sirare and others. I usually use the route nairobi - nakuru and nakuru - eldoret. Their booking office in Nakuru, Milimani annex is so huge with room for seating and even a small store that sells a variety of snacks and some fried goodies. They staff are very polite and welcome you the minute you step in the gate. They even help you carry your luggage to the car. They also search their passengers before the trip begins and don’t stop till they reach nairobi. The booking office in Nairobi is quite small with only less than 10people at a go allowed to enter. Their cars are quite comfortable carrying only 10 people. The seats are spacious and can be slanted. Their prices were relatively fair with Nakuru-Nairobi being around 400KES before the pandemic but increased to 700KES. They are also very popular for their parcel services. You parcel gets to you in good condition. I never travel with any other car service.

Home of cuteness

The cutest little store. This is a Japanese store located at TRM and Two rivers. This store has literally everything you can think of. They have such a wide range of products from household items, fashion accessories and health and beauty. This is the kind of store that you know you'll end up getting things you didn’t plan for. Everything is so cute and useful. The way the store is arranged just draws you in. The staff are super helpful with everything and always smiley. This store is my go to place to get simple gifts for my friends because they just have so much. The quality of the products is also very good. I just love how affordable it is. Most of the things in the store are 319. The last time I was there I got a puzzle, a toy car, some colouring books for my nephew. I also got a neck pillow, some earphones and a cute make up bag. I still have all my items except the earphones which after a few months stopped working. Miniso is the best place for all your little things.
