Lifestyle of the down to earth people
Bomas of Kenya is a neat spot, with natural vegetation and surrounded by some much-needed calmness. We made a half-day out of our visit there. We started with lunch at the restaurant, then walked around the Bomas, and topped it off with the dancing. Overall it was a really cool experience. Learning about the different types of houses, layouts, construction styles, and materials used by the different tribes is really educational. It is an interesting site that you can visit alone or with a guide. The “villages” were laid out nicely and it was awesome to go inside and imagine living in one as a first wife, of course. I appreciated the description at the entrance to each tribal area describing who in each clan does the building, where this tribe is located, what materials they use, and why they chose the layout that they chose. Our kids LOVED it. They were really excited to see structures built out of mud, sticks, straw, grass, all the natural things they love to play with. They also enjoyed seeing some houses similar to those we have seen during our travels. The dances were really engaging and the acoustics in the auditorium are really good. Hearing the singing, stomping, and catcalling was great. For a long afternoon adventure just outside the city, this is a wonderful place to go, excellent value, and well worth a visit! As a tip, I suggest checking the availability of shows due to the covid regulation. Another tip is to get ready for the mini-market of people who will sell you souvenirs
