Bordering the Giraffe Sanctuary forest on the outskirts of Nairobi, Eden sits on a four-acre property in the peaceful suburb of Langata and offers travelers an immediate connection to a deeply authentic expression of one family’s Kenyan home, history, and adventures.

Originally designed and built by Tonio and Anna Trzebinski, the 9 bedrooms former family home has been transformed into a living museum and private gallery space that is filled with the family’s own artworks and creations, as well as their personal library and artifacts that have been collected over a lifetime from across the continent.

Whilst staying at Eden, hotel guests have the opportunity to enjoy a fully immersive contemporary cultural experience within the intimacy of the hotel and across the city. Eden prides itself in being a platform from which to experience a modern Nairobi in a unique way.

Nairobi National Park, the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, Karen Blixen Museum, and the Giraffe Centre are all within a short driving distance and the hotel is within easy reach of Nairobi’s most interesting restaurants, eclectic shopping experiences, and artist studios.

What a gem this place is. It’s located some 30 minutes from Nairobi CBD and a cab cost about kes 700. The trip is all the way worth it. I hadn’t heard of the place before a friend of mine, who is an artist, invited me to go see it. The area surrounding the museum is lush. Lots of trees and plants. Luckily, the entrance is not far from the houses. It contains a number of houses with lots of pieces and books. I liked the main house. It’s huge and made of wood giving a rustic look that the art complements all so well. By the time I was through with the ground floor, my friend and I had already gotten separated. I spent hours looking and reading and moving to the next house then the next. However, I felt some discrimination because none of the staff had taken me through the tour as compared to the foreigners who were getting a lot of attention. Either way, it’s a place I’ll surely revisit.
