Haller Park (formerly Bamburi Nature Trail) is located South of the Bamburi cement plant along the Mombasa /Malindi highway. A place to connect with nature, so close to the hustle and bustle of the city life yet once inside it can seem like you are in another dimension altogether. Plenty of recreational activities including cycling and a playground for kids as well. My cousin and her family requested for her daughters photoshoot at the park, an I must say I loved every minute of the shoot. The park has mammals that include; hippos, buffalos, giraffes, water bucks, Oryx and Elands, Green Vervet. Monkey types found in the park include the Mona monkey and the Sykes monkey. These animals found in the park are rarely seen because of shyness to humans or are only active at night include the Bush buck, the Suni, Duiker, Marsh mangrove and the Serval cat, hence the opportunity to do a photoshoot freely without any fear of wildanimals attacking us. A wide variety of birds can also be seen especially in the morning and include the Grey heron, black heron, sacred Ibis, plovers, African fish eagle, Narina trogon, pied king fisher, egret, golden palm weaver, yellow tailed egret, black headed weaver and the golden weaver. Feeding of the giraffes in the park is also allowed after 3 pm. The services offered in Haller Park for visitors include conference services in Mombasa- as the park boasts of an Park auditorium in with a seating capacity of 100 people; this makes the park an ideal place for weddings , company parties, family outings and social gatherings at a fee. The park is a really good place for nature lovers! when in mombasa dont miss to expereince nature at its best.

Nature at its finest.

Haller Park is located in Bamburi, Mombasa on the Kenyan Coast. It is a nature park that comprises of a variety of animals. The entrance fee for tourists is 800 KES for adults and 400 KES for children. For residents adults it’s 500 KES and 200 KES for children. You can use a wheelchair both in the parking and within the park. If you prefer nature and walk under shaded mixture of tropical trees, then this is the pace to be! The walk is an hours long so bring comfortable shoes. The environmental is serene and peaceful. The animals put into this sanctuary are well taken care of and since there are not so many animals to see, it’s better to plan your trip around the feeding times, which is 11AM and 3PM for the giraffes and 4PM for the hippos, buffalos and crocodiles. Giraffe feeding is an exclusively amazing activity and very fun, I would highly recommend. The place is also good for photo shoots. The guards are super friendly and informative. The services are timely and responded well. It’s a very convenient place for a nature stroll and family outing, however they need to increase diversity to make it more attractive.

Haller Park offers a nice blend of wildlife and plants .It is a nature park in Bamburi Mombasa. Its a chill outdoor activity that’s serves as an ideal family outing when you visit Mombasa. For adults,we were charged 500 shillings at the entrance. It’s clean ,nice ,simple and cool.A really nice place if you want to learn about nature in a relaxed environment :both plants and animals. I visited the place in the afternoon because our tour guide had told us it’s the best time to do that. That’s when feeding of the animals starts and the place gets livelier. In actuality, the different animals have different feeding times as we got to learn from the visit that is:11 am and 3 pm for the Giraffes ,4 pm for the Hippos, Buffalo and Crocodiles. The selection of animals is very wide.We saw buffalos, hippos, crocodiles, tortoises ,giraffes, snakes, butterflies ,fish and monkeys. When we went there,we got to get the experience of feeding some animals. For me, the thrill came mostly from seeing the crocodiles and the hippos grab huge chunks of meat like there’s no tomorrow. At some point I even thought they were coming for me because of how high the crocodiles were jumping.Feeding the giraffes was also fun but it wasn’t my first time so it wasn’t as exciting. The environment at haller park is very green and beautiful a picnic here would actually be something I’d recommend. However,I do not like how hot Mombasa gets so the walk I took on the trails (let alone a picnic) was slightly tedious I wished I was submerged in the ocean instead.
