Our coffee houses would not be what they are without the effort, commitment, and passion of the Java House team who make sure each branch is a place where everyone feels at home. Quality and professionalism are deeply rooted in our culture and we ensure that every cup poured and every plate served is a reflection of our promise of offering only the best.

Java House, commonly referred to as ‘Nairobi Java’, opened its first store in 1999 at Adam’s Arcade in Nairobi. With the aim of introducing gourmet coffee drinking culture in Kenya, the first outlet was a coffee shop and later the brand evolved to an American diner style restaurant to its present-day status as a 3 -day part coffee-led, casual dining concept.

Java House is now one of the leading coffee brands in Africa and has grown to have outlets in 14 cities across 3 countries in East Africa (Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda). It has also birthed two sister brands Planet Yoghurt, a healthy, tasty and fun frozen yogurt store and 360 Degrees Pizza, a casual dining restaurant.

“Welcome to Java. A home away from home”

The first time I went to java was a long time ago. But I still get the same great feeling every time I visit. This has been a local joint to have business meetings, dates or group of friends chilling. Their ambience is beautiful with all the branches in east africa having the same classy look. The standard of food is also the same everywhere. Their service is very good and you will not wait for more than 15 minutes for your food. Their waiters are very polite too. I mostly have the mushroom fillet steak with a side of fries that costs KES1100 with a lemonade which is KES210. Their chocolate fudge cake is the truth! My partner usually gets it for my birthday and I am yet to complain. Their shakes are also really good with my partners favorite being the salted caramel milkshake. They also have the option of home delivery. No wonder it still loved even after so many years. Would definitely recommend 9/10

With the coming of Westend mall to Kisumu a lot of businesses emerged. One of these businesses is Java house and I have to say it was about damn time. So this Java is relatively big. I’ve gone to several other branches in Nairobi and this is one of the most spacious one’s. It’s located on the first floor of Westend mall and it occupies a span of two stalls with an outside section for sitting .I don’t prefer sitting outside because it doesn’t offer privacy. There are many people shopping around the mall and they pass by the this place so during the peak hours even having a conversation may be difficult. Westend mall has a lot of stores and I frequently come here so after a little hustle and bustle dropping by Java soothes my soul. Their colors are usually so simple and they blend so well. I feel like they make the restaurant so serene and their fixtures and paintings make it even better. Like I said ,after a hot day their milkshakes are the bomb. Kisumu can get so hot sometimes and having something cold is exactly what you need. My favorite of course is their gourmet chocolate chip cookie milkshake. I love how it’s thick and delicious. They make their shakes with a higher proportion of ice cream relative to milk and this is exactly the way to do it. This shake is usually 440/=. I find this relatively affordable. Their most expensive shake is only 460/=. The thing about this place is that sometimes it can get really crowded during the peak hours. One time I witnessed a family being made to wait for around fifteen minutes because there was no available seat. The staff are very professional and your order does not take a long time to get delivered. If you are in Kisumu and you are looking for a cafe to visit this would be the place.
