Breakfast while watching the sun rise
Lake Nakuru Lodge was stunning with unparalleled views of the lake, particularly breath-taking at dawn. Pre-safari breakfast watching the mist unfurl as the sun rose. Situated inside the park, the lodge has its waterhole so you can wild zebra, warthogs, buffalo, and beautiful birds while enjoying a sundowner at the poolside bar. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and even pointed out a lioness watching us from a rock! The lodge itself is a sprawling grand affair in dark wood and giraffe print, with spacious and very comfortable cabins situated in lush, bird-filled gardens. A restaurant with a spacious roofed terrace in front of the waterhole is often visited by game animals. Superb location: next to the best (full of birds) part of the Lake, to the main game-viewing areas, and also (400 m) to the Park gate and the good tarmac road (use Nderit Gate). The food was hearty with generous portions and the bar well-stocked. Some reviews mention rooms/bathrooms being dated, but this was not our experience at all, the rooms were clean and bright, well-furnished in a traditional style. We will return next time we are at Lake Nakuru.
