A gem for fish

While Mama Oliech restaurant has become very popular for hosting famous people, I knew it while it was still a kibanda back in Dagoretti Corner back in 2006. My dad used to bring home Mama Oliech’s crunchy and delicious fish. This is arguably the best fish joint in Nairobi, you are guaranteed of enjoying fresh well-made tilapia. Mama Oliech Restaurant is famous for its tasty, mouth-watering fish dishes fresh from lake Victoria. It also strives to provide a comfortable and serene environment where you can eat, relax and feel at home regardless of race or tribe. The restaurant has several branches with the prominent ones being in Hurlingam and Westlands. Due to its delicacies and friendly environment, the place has earned itself a name and hosted popular people like Mark Zuckerberg. it is also one of the cheapest fish joints because prices are affordable, It’s a gem for local foods. My favorite up to this date is Tilapia fry, ugali, and kachumbari. At Marcus Garvey Road Read. The place is not at all like an upscale restaurant and yet gives a good impression on the first visit. The crowd was relatively less, only a couple of guests were present. We chose outdoor sitting. The restaurant ambiance is pretty ordinary but clean and hygienic. The service was prompt. The staff is courteous. But the menu is very limited.

Mama Oliech is a restaurant located at Marcus Garvey Road, Nairobi, Kenya. My friends dragged me to this restaurant to try the fish prepared here. I am not a fish lover, but when I got to that restaurant, I had a chance to try deep-fried fish ever since I have been eating fish when I get a chance. The fish was fresh from the lake, and it was a lot. It was accompanied by Ugali [brown or white] and salsa [kachumbari]. I truly enjoyed every bit of it, but a bit sacred of bones😂; it was my first time trying it, and I was not disappointed. I am happy with the restaurant location; it is just a few minutes away from home. This place is excellent! The atmosphere is chill and relaxed, and the staff is also amicable.

Mama Oliech is Nairobi’s hidden gem!

5/ 5

Located in the residential neighborhood of Kilimani, Mama Oliech is Nairobi’s hidden gem. The restaurant is best known for its large whole deep-fried lake fish from Lake Nakuru; order it with sides of ugali and kachumbari. It’s a particularly popular destination for hungry office employees who make the trek for lunch on Fridays. It’s a must visit for fresh fish lovers.
