GENERAL INTRODUCTION
Historical Background
The City Council of Nairobi is responsible for providing services such as health care facilities,
primary education, emergence response, waste collection, water and sanitation among others. For
this reason, Ngara Health Centre was created to provide health services to not only residents
around that area but also to the general population who could access the centre. Ngara Health
Centre is owned by the local authority.
Its located in Nairobi County, Starehe Constituency, Central Division, Ngara location. It
provides services such as antenatal services, antiretroviral therapy, basic emergence, Obstetric
care, comprehensive emergence, curative in-patient care, curative outpatient services, growth
monitoring and promotion, immunization, prevention of mother child transmission of HIV,
tuberculosis diagnosis, tuberculosis laboratories and tuberculosis treatment among others.
All services offered at the facility are free of charge and this makes them accessible to everyone
who is in need of medical attention. The staff working at the Health facility are very friendly and
attend to everyone regardless of their social background. The Centre has a bed capacity of 24
beds with zero cots.
