About us

Over the years Olkaria Geothermal Resource has been confined to energy generation until recently when KenGen established a Geothermal Health Spa and Demonstration Centre. This Centre showcases direct use applications such as hot/ warm water bathing for balneological effects, sauna, steam bathing, cooking, drying of fruits and vegetables, refrigeration, irrigation of crops and fish farming.

The Geothermal Spa offers a bouquet of adventure, spice comfort, luxury, and true African hospitality. Whether you are seeking a business venue, adventure or that elusive African getaway we will cater for your need.

From the Great Rift Valley along the majestic shores of Naivasha to the land of the Maasai, the setting of the Geothermal Spa ensures that you have a memorable visit.

Breathtaking Open Air Sauna

After a long game drive and cycling at Hell’s gate, we finalized with a soothing and therapeutic swim. Geothermal Spa is nestled right on the floor of the Great Rift Valley inside the quirky Hell`s Gate National Park in Naivasha, Kenya. Around 113 Kilometers from Nairobi CBD. A 2.5 Hours drive A haven for revelers who come for healing.. To get to the Spa you will have to pay the entry fee of the Park and the entry fee for the spa, something that I find quite bizarre. Geothermal Spa is a natural extension of the geothermal power plant and uses the hot jets to run a huge pool. The hot water with natural salts massages soothes and resets weary, sick, or aged muscles.

The spa hosts a wide variety of wild animals the largest being the Buffalo that sometimes come right up to the Spa, huge herds of Zebras, Giraffes, a wide variety of antelopes, troops, and troops of Baboons and Vervet Monkeys, and a lot of bird life. Managed by KenGen, the place has several pools for different ages with lifeguards. So long as you can keep up with the acrid smell of Sulphur fumes that will stubbornly and audaciously welcome you but as the therapy go on. You will forget if there was any tart Sulphur whiff. Affordable and well-prepared meals, good reception and professionalism, The staff are very friendly, especially those in the restaurant. The place is very spacious and caters to families too, the pools are clean and well situated, and the cold winds will provoke you o get into the pool and feel warm. Because of the water contents, I recommend you remove all metal jewelry before you swim. The spa experience is well worth the drive!

Magical Kenya 😍

What a hidden gem 💎 We went sometime last year in December..just a spontaneous road trip with the family. It’s a 2½ Hr drive from Nairobi. The road from Nairobi to Naivasha is good..it only got a bit rough when we were on our way to the spa…a few potholes here and there. When we got to the park (the spa is inside Hell’s Gate National Park)we had to pay KWS park fees which is ksh.300 for adults and ksh.215 for children over 3 years. We then drove for 2 min so we could park inside the spa. Spa fees are ksh.400 for adults and ksh.100 children. I would advise you get to the spa early so you can enjoy the warm water and scenery since they close at 5pm. That water is soo therapeutic and relaxing..I could feel like a load had been lifted..I am glad i got to experience these magical waters with my family. My baby had some eczema and to be honest by the time we got home it was no longer there. The thing I didn’t like was how rude some of the staff were and how expensive the food is yet it doesn’t even taste good. I would advise you eat before you arrive bcz they also don’t allow food or drinks into the spa. It is a very kid friendly area so don’t shy away from bringing your loved ones… they have a play area and a separate kids pool. Please watch out for water inlets that let in hot water to regulate the temperature of the water as they are not marked. I remember someone getting burned bcz they went close to an inlet. We told the manager to mark those areas bcz its dangerous esp at the baby pool…I had to keep in warning kids to stay away…..hoping by the time we go back they would have done so. And don’t let the smell of Sulphur put you off bcz this place is amazing..I highly recommend you try it out
