About The Outspan Hospital

The Outspan Hospital started operations with the establishment of an Out Patient Department on August 7, 2001. A month later, the In Patient Department was opened with a capacity of 21 beds. Currently, the Out Patient Department has evolved into a one stop shop for all medical services expected of a national referral hospital. Despite the high cost of day to day operations and purchase and maintenance of modern medical equipment, The Outspan Hospital has retained very low rates in charges and fees. Some of the rates have never been reviewed since the facility opened its doors. The Outspan prides of a Pharmacy stocked with the widest range of pharmaceuticals and non pharmaceuticals in the Mount Kenya region.

Our Laboratory

Our Laboratory Department has the capacity to perform all kinds of required medical tests within an acceptable time limit and give accurate results.The acquisition of new and moder medical equipments has made the tests very quick and affordable.

Our Outpatient services

They include Endoscopy services; Emergency Evacuation; Colonoscopy; Minor Surgeries.

Imaging Clinic

This Department provides diagnostics images which helps doctors to graphically analyze a patient through sound and imagery.

Surgical Clinic

This is a clinic which has specifically been designed for patients whose conditions necessitate surgical intervention or who have already had already received surgery and they need monitoring and check up.

Recently while we were on holiday in Nyeri, one of my relatives got sick and needed to be admitted into a hospital. Being visitors to the town, we didn’t know the location of the hospitals. After making a few calls and searching online, we were able to locate The Outspan Hospital situated on the outskirts of Nyeri Town. Luckily the hospital was barely 5 minutes from the town, and we got her there pretty quickly. At the entrance, the guards directed us to the reception where she gave her insurance details and was assigned to a doctor. Due to the relatively short line, she managed to go through the triage room and see the doctor within 30 minutes. That was pretty impressive since in many hospitals it usually takes me almost an hour before I get to see a doctor. The doctor decided it was best to admit her. As my relatives were helping her through the process, I got a chance to walk around the hospital. The hospital is quite big, clean and well maintained. It has a lot of security around the premises. Laboratory and pharmacy services are offered within the hospital as I saw both of these departments within the facility. Because she wanted privacy my relative decided to be admitted into the Deluxe Suite. The suites are really big, and each has its own bathroom and shower with hot water. Each Deluxe Suite also has a TV, Wi-Fi and a wardrobe. The views from the rooms are also really good. There is a garden on the ground floor too, where the patients can walk and get some air. The doctors and nurses were really friendly and professional. Some of the friendliest staff I have ever met. They kept us informed on everything that was going on. My relative’s biggest complaint was the food, which she found difficult to eat. However, everything else impressed her, including the staff and the hospital environment. If I am ever sick while in Nyeri, that’s the hospital I’ll be going to.
