Home for endangered species and exotic animals in Nanyuki.
Named after William Holden, a wildlife conservationist and award winning actor, this wildlife conservancy is located in cold Nanyuki in Central Kenya. The place is dedicated to preserving wildlife and especially endangered species around the world. The centre accommodates local groups and international groups for education on conservancy and environment. Our school had arranged for us to visit the conservancy. The tour guide was quite a riot – he was witty, educative and super-friendly. During the introduction, we were led into a room for the briefing on everything we would need to know before we started the tour. He led with an excellent summary of the place and what it’s about- its history and values. He then had us stand for an icebreaker in a song- which was great for the teenage audience. Nanyuki gets really cold so it would be great to carry warm clothing, gloves and be prepared. The tour was great with the conservancy having rhinos, snakes and llamas. I was quite glad to see llmas and have them thriving in the Nanyuki weather. The place is family-friendly, school-friendly and great for trips with large groups.
