Naivasha is one of the best places to visit in Kenya. With various attractions such as The Hells Gate and Lake Naivasha coupled with almost tropical weather, Naivasha is perfect for vacations. Deciding on where to stay is a challenge because of the variety of hotels and resorts available. Here is my top 10 list of hotels/resorts in Naivasha.
Located in Naivasha off Moi South Lake Road, Fina Gardens is the perfect spot for a getaway and is still pocket friendly. Be it a vacation for families or recreation for staff, the space is a breath of fresh air for all.
Sawela Lodge is located some 13 km from Naivasha town on the southern shores of Lake Naivasha. Apart from the beautiful view of Mt. Longonot, they offer boat rides, bird watching, and guided nature walks. The lodge has 24 superior suites and 18 deluxe suites. It’s perfect for all sorts of travelers.
It’s right on the shores of Lake Naivasha. The design of the rooms is rustic with all the modern amenities necessary for comfort. At certain times of the day, wild animals roam the compound and you can see them from the comfort of your room. Their service is as good as the serenity of the facility.
The hotel is located along the Moi South Lake Road. The rooms are modern in style and the pool is a serene spot to wind down. You won’t get to experience the beach because the hotel is on the opposite side of the road leading to the lake. One downside of the hotel is the patio. They’ve used translucent roofing which makes it unbearably hot from noon.
Dove Nest Lodge is ideally located. It’s surrounded by Lake Naivasha, Hell’s Gate National Park, Mt. Longonot, and Aberdare National Park (plenty of places to visit while staying at the lodge) There are 20 standard rooms and 5 executive rooms. You can experience mountain bike riding and nature walks while staying at the lodge.
Enashipai is an award-winning resort full of culture, history, and nature. The name of the resort is Maasai for ” a happy place” and it lives up to it. Get to experience bird watching, hiking, boat rides, wildlife, and the Enashipai Maa Museum. Enjoy relaxing massages at Siyara Spa while kids play at the indoor kids play center.
Naivasha Kongoni Lodge rests on a hill and so you get beautiful sunrises and sunsets. It’s quite a distance from Naivasha town, some 33 km. The premise is lush and the cabins are huge and have a chic design. At around 6 pm, hippos appear around the premise so you can’t leave the lodge unless you arrange transport.
Ole Itiko is a serene getaway located along Moi South Lake Road. The road leading to the lodge is treacherous but you forget about that as soon as you arrive. The lush compound next to the lake is mesmerizing. You can enjoy boat rides and fishing, bird watching, and other activities.
Lake Naivasha Resort is picturesque. It’s perfect for solo trips, family getaways, and corporate retreats. It’s also easily accessible from Moi South Lake Road. What the lodge lacks in room sizes, it makes up in great service and an array of cuisines.
I am a charismatic 23-year-old student at the University of Nairobi. I enjoy traveling be it planned or impromptu. I also enjoy partying. I'll be there with a drink in my cup all through the night, chasing the sun. Life's too short not to choose the fast lane. Carpe diem!
