1) Nairobi Arboretum
This is a serene space in Kilimani. For only Ksh.50, take walks and meditate while taking in the fresh air. It’s also a nice spot for picnics. Since it’s usually packed during the weekends, pick a weekend and savor the quiet.
2) Uhuru Park
At the heart of Nairobi is Uhuru Park which is a chill and green park with a magnificent view of the city’s skyline. It’s also free so any time you feel that you need to clear your head, this is a great space to do so.
3) Memorial Park
At times, we get so caught up with life that we forget to live. With the history associated with the Memorial Park, you get to be reminded of the fragility of life. Plus, you can take a walk on the park’s grounds and relax.
4) The Oloolua Nature Train
Located on Karen Road, the Oloolua Nature Train is the perfect spot for long walks while experiencing some of the flora and fauna that nature has to offer. You’ll also get to explore caves and a waterfall. Imagine meditating to the sound of a waterfall!
5) Karen Blixen Museum
The Karen Blixen Museum is a gem located 45 minutes from Nairobi CBD, in Karen. A walk through the manicured lawn or checking out the artifacts in the museum will surely leave you feeling unclenched.
6) Ngong Hills
I know that it’s quite a distance from Nairobi CBD, but the view is worth it. You can meditate at the top of the hills with a chilling breeze brushing your face and take in the breathtaking view. It gets cold so be sure to dress warmly.
7) Karura Forest
How about exploring nature and still keeping fit with a good hike? Along the 30km trail, you’ll get to see birds, a waterfall, and several species of trees. A good weekend plan to unwind.
8) Paradise Lost
This is a nice space to get away from the city’s madness. It’s a huge park and you can choose to stroll the grounds, take a boat ride, have a picnic, see the waterfalls, or visit the caves. Whatever will get you relaxed, Paradise Lost has it.
9) Paradise Gardens
This is one of those places you can sit for hours and take in the ambiance. From the manicured lawn, the surrounding coffee estates, and the man-made dam, you’ll literally feel the stress leave your body.
10) Evergreen Park
You can go to Evergreen over and over and not tire of its tranquility. Relax while taking in the view of the manicured lawn and the artificial lake at the center of the grounds.
