Frangos Bar & Churrasqueira

Frangos is a bar-and-grill meat lovers’ paradise that offers Nairobi’s favorite Portuguese-inspired flame-grilled Piri Piri chicken. Ambience at Frangos is relaxed and rustic. The simple, modern, wooden furniture is in shades of brown and grey, contrasting with the simple walls and floors. The spacious layout and comfortable vibes lend well to long, lingering, communal meals with friends. Service at Frangos is friendly, courteous, and professional. Staff make an effort to go out of their way to accomodate requests, which I like. They display proper attention and care, and have good product knowledge, able to describe the various options in the salad bar or on the menu. Staff also clear empty / dirty plates and tables efficiently. We ordered the famous Portuguese-inspired flame-grilled Piri Piri chicken and Lemon Butter Pan-Fried Red Snapper which was a new dish in their menu. I could write an entire book of how delicious red snapper was, the red snapper had a wonderfully crispy skin and is drizzled with a delicious lemon butter sauce! It was incredibly flavorful and juicy! I should say there is nothing quite as satisfying as a simple roast Piri Piri chicken, aromas wafting through the restaurant, infusing hearth and home with warmth and comfort. It’s hearty and satisfying and warms the soul with its deep smoky flavors. The prep time was relatively short. I loved their salads too very fresh and tasty Every dish at Frangos bar and Churrasqueira has its own story, from traditional recipes directly from Portugal to typical bar favorites, each with its own local twist.

Frangos Bar & Churrasqueira is a stylish Bar & Grill with a flavors Portugal theme but influenced by regionality, a careful balance between gourmet and diverse comfort meals. It is located in the heart of Kilimani, boasting a cozy outdoor environment. I was invited to this restaurant by a friend, and I could enjoy the Frangos’ signature chicken burger. The complete Frangos experience in a bun! Flame-grilled Piri-Piri chicken breast on lettuce, topped with creamy crunchy slaw and a Frangos sauce and served on a crispy buttered sesame bun. It was the best burger I have ever tried. The Frangos sauce was everything very delicious for me. I also had a milkshake, and it was great. The staff is amazingly friendly, helpful, and genuinely lovely.

Frangos is a rustic bar and grill in the heart of kilimani boasting a cosy outdoor environment furnished with elements that fuse Kenya and Portugal. They have perfected the balance between heat and flavor in their signature sauce; the Frangos piri piri…and don’t get me started on their art of flame grilling. The reason I fell in love with the joint is when I ate the half frango (half chicken,flame grilled to perfection and served with 2 regular sides of choice)all for 1500/= Let me tell you, that chicken will have you selling your house members just to have another bite…yaani it’s that good and I highly recommend. The marinade on it was super,the coleslaw properly seasoned and crunchy (I almost cried as to how heavenly it was😅) and the spiced chips cooked to perfection. I also loved the chilli cheese steak fries(tender strips of lightly spiced beef fillet on a bed of crispy hand cut fries topped with creamy cheese sauce)…huge portion for a price of 1200/= In addition their cocktails are worth your time and coins,well crafted and beautifully presented. My favorites with a rate of 10/10: *Frangos spiced mango mojito (spiced rum and Mango juice,finished with hints of red bullet chillies and basil) 800/= and *Port Negroni (Ballantines whiskey,campari& Port wine infused with hints of citrus) 850/=. I had tried the Watermelon bonanza (pink gin,Port wine,ginger and lime) but I found it to be too strong to my liking 7/10. I plan to go back and have a taste of their signature burger and bucket of wings in Asian zing & Sticky bbq.

This is the first Portuguese restaurant I’ve been to. I saw the hype and I had to try their food. I could tell you how Italian, Mexican or French cuisines taste but it Portuguese. The restaurant is located on Pioneer Points building in upper hill some 15 minutes from Nairobi CBD and a cab cost about kes 200. This one Saturday afternoon, I tell my partner that I have a surprise for her, we take a cab and head to Frangos. The first time seeing the space, I was impressed. A modern set up but there are murals and art on every corner. I’m a sucker for art. We caught quite a several people there but we were able to get a seat on the outside sitting area next to a beautiful mural. I felt lucky. We got their “dirty double” and it was on point especially their dips. I spent about kes 3000 total but every shilling was worth it. Their service is fast and their portions are generous. I recommend visiting this place.
