Customer service at its best.
This is one of the oldest supermarkets in Nakuru. Heck, the whole of Kenya. It was formerly known as Nakuru Mattresses. Fun fact, if you remember Nakumatt, they originated from Woolmatt. Nakumatt – Nakuru Mattresses (see the similarity) They have two stores within the CBD. One is close to Westside Mall and the other is on the other side of the CBD. My first memory of shopping at Woolmatt is back when I was in primary school and they have maintained their affordability and great customer service. If you’ve been to Naivas or Chandarana, then the floor design of Woolmatt will disappoint you. They make up for that with the number of staff at your beck and call in case you don’t know where a particular thing is. Their prices and great service have attributed to their customer loyalty. My mum, for example, she’ll drive past Chandarana and Naivas to go to Woolmatt. One downside of customer loyalty is the queues during rush hour or when schools open. It’s maddening. But once you reach the counter, the cashier greets you with a familiar warm smile and they often ask how your day has been. I know some guys don’t like the small talk but I think it’s a big part of why I like Woolmatt. The management is also friendly. I remember there was a time we were doing Christmas carols in some spots in Nakuru. We just asked for the manager, he came. We explained what we wanted to do, and he didn’t even need time to think it through before giving the okay. Woolmatt is a benchmark of customer service.
