For introverts, the thought of going to a crowded restaurant or bar can be crippling. So what kind of dates can you enjoy if you and/or your partner are introverts? Here are 10 introvery-friendly date ideas that you can try out while in Nairobi.
1) Browse a museum or an art gallery

Museums are quiet. Everyone is either staring at the art or chatting in low tones. A perfect space for introverts. The art also makes for great conversation points, in case you want to break the ice with your date. Some museums and art galleries you can visit include the Nairobi National Museum, the Karen Blixen Museum, and the Nairobi Railway Museum.
2) Strolling the park

Imagine strolling through manicured grounds or a place with a botanical garden and enjoying slow deep conversations with your date. Now that’s a date. In Nairobi, you can plan a visit to Evergreen Park or Paradise Gardens to have such an experience.
3) Going for a hike

For athletic introverts, this is a great plan. Also for those that enjoy bird watching and looking at fauna, this can be a beautiful experience. You can have a guided tour or explore by yourselves. Check out Oloolua Nature Trail or Karura Forest for such an experience.
4) Try out painting

There’s a great space for paint-and-sip at Chez Sonia. You and your partner, plus a few other people, enjoy slow music, drinking wine, and painting. Later on, you can get to see if either you or your date had a hidden artistic talent you didn’t know about.
5) Watching an old movie

If there’s one showing at the cinema, then you’re in luck. You can go further and choose a time when they’ll be the least number of people at the cinema (middle of the day). If not, you can plan a Netflix and chill, with dim lighting, plus some popcorn and watch classic movies.
6) Go to the theatre

The feeling of watching actors on stage is unmatched (once you experience it, you’ll always go back for more shows). And most of the time, theaters are rarely packed. You can check out the Kenya National Theatre and plan a date on one of their show nights.
7) Plan a picnic

A quiet spot, beautiful lawn, deep conversations, and some wine. You can even carry a Bluetooth speaker and listen to jazz. That’s a perfect date if you ask me. Paradise Gardens is the ideal place for such a date.
8) Dinner on the balcony

Picture this, you prepare a meal. Then you and your date have it and some wine on a cute balcony. If the sky is clear, you can stay up late and star gaze. Now that’s romantic!
9) Going for wine tasting

Such events tend to be less crowded compared to a typical restaurant. If you know your wine, you can show your prowess and impress your date. Or if you’re both clueless, make up fake names for the wine and laugh about it. Wine Life is a great place to experience this.
10) Library date, anyone?

Most introverts enjoy reading. You can invite your date to the library and introduce them to some of your favorite authors. Read for a few hours and dive into conversations about the books you’ve read over coffee.
I am a charismatic 23-year-old student at the University of Nairobi. I enjoy traveling be it planned or impromptu. I also enjoy partying. I'll be there with a drink in my cup all through the night, chasing the sun. Life's too short not to choose the fast lane. Carpe diem!
