CJ’s Restuarant

Cj’s restaurant, short for Cafe Java has become an absolute fave among the various eat-out spots for Nairobi residents. My friends and I decided to try out their Koinange Street branch as a well deserved treat after a long and tiresome exam period. Unfortunately when we got there, the staff at yhe entrance informed us that the tables were full and the empty ones had been reserved but he told led us to a bench at the entrance and requested us to wait. After about 10 mins, we were ushered in and showed to our table. The place is really clean and the dining area is well arranged and spaced out. I loved their seats which unlike the usual uncomfortable chairs I’m used to in other restaurants, theirs are padded and very comfortable. The waiter quickly came up to us greeted as warmly and asked us if we were ready to order our drinks as we contemplated on what to order from their extensive menu. I ordered a pinacolada which is by far the best I’ve ever tasted, would highly recommend. My two other friends ordered milkshakes instead. Their coladas are just Ksh 480 and definitely worth every penny. Their gourmet milkshakes on the other hand are Ksh 450 each and despite the difference in flavours, all are priced the same. After our orders were taken we were left to enjoy the drinks as we waited. The food didn’t take too long and I must say i was impressed by their efficiency. Their southwestern quesadillas going for only 1190 witu a side of fries are quite something! Definitely a must try. My friends had their pizza and grilled tilapia which were equally good. My favorite part about dining at CJ’s is that their portions are really good and worth every coin. We each had our chocolate fudge slices packed as take away since we were so full. The cake was soooo delicious I actually ended up ordering a whole cake from them for my sister’s birthday last year. Cj’s have always had a CJ’s big fan offer whereby they choose one person to have one free breakfast on a day of their choice among anyone who’s tagged them on a picture eating at any one of their branches. I haven’t become a lucky winner yet but nevertheless, everyone DOES deserve a CJ’s experience.

There was so much hype about CJs and I really didn’t get why till we went there with my lady. It is located in the CBD just along koinange street. We got there and the place is breathtaking. They really put a lot of thought to it. The place has such a chilled vibe but still very fine dining. There was this waitress, she was so welcoming and showed as to our table. We had reserved a table after being told by a friend that it gets pretty full during evenings. To reserve a table, you must commit to spending KES1500 plus. The service is great, best service in town really. The food was really good. She ordered the shrimp pasta which ,costs KES1500, and finished every bit of it. I ordered the quesadillas which costs KES1200. Their portions are quite generous. We also had a few drinks on the side. The price of drinks vary from KES500 to KES700. Everything about this place was great. From ambience to food to the service. It really worth the hype. Perfect place for a date or a group of friends to hang out.

Ambience! Ambience! This has got to be the restaurant with the best ambience in Nairobi. They have branches in Village market, Waterfront Karen and one in CBD along Koinange street. Once you walk in, it will take you a minute to just take it all in. Everything is just perfect….from the decor to the staff to the food. Everything! The first time I was here was a few months after it was opened and news was all about it. We decided to try it with my best friend. We got a table on the first floor and waited for the waiter. Once the menus came, it took us some time to settle on what to eat. They have a very diversified menu. I finally decided to get the grilled chicken breast with mushroom sauce and a side of fries while she decided to have their famous southwestern quesadilla which was 1190KES. The food was as yummy as the ambience. The drinks we ordered were cocktails that were equally good. I really loved everything about this restaurant. The vibe was beautiful. The staff are truly awesome and their food even better. My friend says she really loved her meal…next time that what I’m getting for sure. Id suggest reserving a table if you want to come during peak hours. To reserve a table you need to spend more than 1500. Their prices are also very affordable as a full meal for one person might come to a total of 1600KES. Perfection!!

Do you know those restaurants that serve something that’s really good and has been tailor made to perfection suiting everyone’s needs but that something is not their food ? If you don’t know now you know because that restaurant is CJ’s . They purely serve ambiance with a side of food.You enter and it’s just wow . The first time I went to CJ’s was a couple of weeks after it opened because of the hype going on around it. The talk was CJ’s at that time . Considering how much I love food and trying out new places I definitely had to try it out. I went to the CJ’s that had just been opened in Nairobi’s CBD along Koinage street . They didn’t have many branches at that time but now they have several others.They have a branch in the village market , waterfront karen and lastly along lang’ata road. Like I said, the ambience was very impressive .Starting from the fixtures, the sitting arrangements and how spacious the whole space was even the colors just worked. It delivers such a relaxed and serene atmosphere. It’s family friendly and not very noisy so you can even have an official meeting. I ordered their trio which was recommended to me by a friend and it was composed of a curry of your choice ,fish and chicken with a side of fries. It costs around 1300/=. My partner ordered their chicken alfredo pasta that was 1400/=.We both had the blue lagoon hand crafted lemonades that cost 500/= each.Lemme tell you if you’re a heavy eater you’d fall in love with this place. Their portions are really really good. The flavor was fairly ok and the savoriness could be appreciated The staff were very warm , inviting and they paid quite a lot of attention to the clients.I’ve had better meals but when combined with the ambience I’d rate it at a 9/10.
