Having worked and lived at the University of Nairobi after campus (KSC)I have so much to write. When I joined Kenya Science Campus after campus as a user support analyst I was the only baby I should say. This gave me advantages and disadvantages, the advantages surpassed the disadvantages. KSC campus was for the most part with mature colleagues unlike Kabete and the main campus, especially the IT department. Then Prof Magoha was our Vince chancellor and Dr. Vijoo Rattansi was the chancellor current. The disadvantage was only when some students used to hit on me yet am a staff lol! Prof. Ochanda and his deputy were very protective of me, during the open day he would warn the men to stay away from me. The exciting times were during elections, the times when Babu Owino was the university chairman. During my time we saw more than 1000 trees planted in the campus compound. University has their own staff Sacco called Chuna, this is such a lifesaver to many. Working at the University gave me a lot of privileges… I sat and dinned in places I would never think I would, I have met people I would never met if it were not for working here. Up to this date Prof. Magoha who moved to the ministry of education and Prof. Ochanda are people I can access easily due to my diligence while at work. University of Nairobi faculty includes Agriculture, Art and Social Sciences, Built Environment and Design, Business & Management Sciences Educational Engineering Law Health Science Science and Technology Veterinary Medicine memories are made on this campus

This is one of Kenya’s oldest universities with with notable alumni’s from the institution. The University attracts international and local students due to the high education quality provided by the school and therefore has a very large number of student population . The University offers several courses and has several branches countrywide but the main campus is in the Central Business District. UON is also famed for its law and medicine courses. The academic staff at UON is highly experienced and professional. The facilities at the University are quite good and development is still on going to further improve its already pleasing aesthetics.

The University of Nairobi, with the main campus in Nairobi CBD, is without a doubt the best University in East Africa. Many of Kenyas great leaders have come from this university. The main campus is in the CBD but the one I have visited is the School Of Business which is located in Lower Kabete (14km from the main campus). A cab from city center to lower kabete costs 800/= Lower Kabete in itself is a posh estate with jacaranda trees and manicured lawns going for kilometers. It is therefor no shock that this campus has the most serene environment I have ever seen in a campus. I took a matatu which costs 50/= from city center. The entrance to the campus is huge. It is hard to miss it with the School of Business title written in bold on the perimeter wall. I alighted the matatu and went on ahead to the security check. The guards are very friendly but thorough. The have to know your purpose for visiting the campus and you have to should a form of identification. This campus is beautiful. From the entrance everything is green. Tall jacaranda trees on all the main paths. You can stroll through the whole campus with the trees shading you from the sun. Immediately after the entrance to your left, there is a huge lecture hall. I saw a class of about 50 students having a class at the time. On your right is the receptions and an administration block. I walked to the administration and the secretary was so eager to meet my needs. From a far you can see a huge soccer pitch which boarder a block of hostel. I think the students in this campus really enjoy the peace in this place. Its nothing like I’ve seen before.

World Class education

Repeatedly acclaimed to be the best university in East Africa and one of the best in Africa. The University of Nairobi is located in the heart of Nairobi City. Once you get to the CBD, it takes a less than 10 minutes walk to the gates of UON. From a far you can see the towering University of Nairobi Towers. Most of the times, this building acts as a compass on locating the campus. The sheer size of the campus takes you aback. With its blue and white colour on the gates and all the buildings, its hard to mistake this for any other institution. At the gate, there is the mandatory security check by guards. Past the gate, everything is pavements and the most manicured lawns. Walking a few steps and you come across the graduation square. Its in the middle of all these buildings which house offices and classes. Thankfully there are sign posts everywhere, otherwise, navigating this jungle would be quite a task. I visited the main offices and there is something about the way you are welcomed at the reception. The secretaries are very friendly and always smiling ready to meet your every need. Quality services for a world class university.
