In all honesty, most of us need some tasty, greasy (or not) chicken every now and then to appreciate living. Whether you’re a foodie looking to try out the newest joint, you want to stress eat, going for a date, or need a quick fix instead of cooking, fast food joints come through big-time. So what are your options while in Nakuru? Here’s my list of the top 10 fast food joints in Nakuru.
1) KFC – Nakuru

Situated in the Westside Mall, KFC was one of the first ‘global-franchise’ fast food restaurants to have a branch in Nakuru. For that reason, plus the finger-licking good chicken (of course), KFC is a favorite for many locals in Nakuru. I find their service quicker compared to Nairobi and there is lots of dining space meaning at any time, you can pop in and get space to enjoy your meal.
2) Chicken Inn

Chicken inn was recently opened (not more than a year ago) in Nakuru, along Kenyatta Avenue. It’s quickly gaining popularity because of its convenient location, tasty chicken, and affordable prices. Be sure to try out their sweet chili sauce. I promise you, it’ll make your meal ten times better.
3) Pizza Inn

For the longest time, Nakuru has not had a good pizza place (in my opinion) so when Pizza Inn came to town, I was lowkey excited. It’s located along Kenyatta Avenue which is great for convenience but getting parking can be a headache. The variety of pizza flavors will leave you spoilt for choice plus on Tuesdays, they have a 2 for the price of 1 offer on all their pizzas. If you were looking for a sign to try it out or have your third pizza of the week, this is it. It’s really good!
4) Lennz Pizza

Lennz Pizza is the best ‘underdog’ in the fast food restaurants category in Nakuru. It’s located in the CBD, opposite Woolmart Supermarket, and offers a range of meals ranging from burgers, pizzas, and fish fingers. According to me, they have the best burgers in Nakuru plus on Wednesdays, they have a 2 for the price of 1 offer. There is no reason not to try out their burgers.
5) Galitos

Galitos is a great addition to the fast food restaurants in Nakuru. The restaurant is located along Kenyatta Avenue, opposite KCB, and has really tasty food, especially their grilled chicken. They also have the most impressive assortment of sauces that I’ve seen in any fast food joint. The food is priced slightly higher than in most fast food restaurants but trust me, it’s worth every penny.
6) Origin Coffee

Origin Coffee is a recently opened restaurant on the ground floor of Golden Life Mall. The decor and ambiance are nothing like what we’re used to in Nakuru’s restaurants. The rustic decor, the art pieces on the walls, lots of natural lighting, and warm lights make it a great space to have a date. They also make tasty pizza. On Tuesdays they have a 2 for the price of 1 offer on their pizzas and on Wednesdays, they have the same offer on their burgers.
7) Chicken Baristo

Chicken Baristo is kind of fancy for a fast food joint. It’s located in Nakuru CBD, opposite Rift Valley Sports Club. The decor is modern, they’ve hung art pieces on the walls, and the large windows allow for a lot of natural lighting that gives it a clean feel and look. I have to say, they make one mean grilled chicken. You should definitely try it.
8) Java House

Java House is a household name in Nakuru because they opened their first branch in Nakuru, over 5 years ago. The restaurant is in the Westside Mall and the space and decor look chic. It’s the ideal restaurant for meetings or solo dates. Plus they make tasty fast food and pastries.
9) Jamia Food Mart

Jamia Food Mart has been around for ages. It was there before they renovated the entire space and added Jamia Hotel. I have to applaud their consistency in making really good food. Especially their pizza which is tasty from the first time I had it (almost 7 years ago) till now. They are also affordable and the service is top-notch.
10) Rift Fries

Rift Fries is one of the oldest and most popular restaurants in Nakuru. It’s located along Club lane, right next to Rift Valley ports Club. The decor is nothing fancy but it’s plenty spacious with 2 floors of dining space. The restaurant prides itself in providing tasty African Cuisine at the most affordable price. This, plus its convenient location might explain why a lot of guys working in the CBD get their lunch from Rift Fries. I would suggest getting the chips masala. It’s really good.
I am a charismatic 23-year-old student at the University of Nairobi. I enjoy traveling be it planned or impromptu. I also enjoy partying. I'll be there with a drink in my cup all through the night, chasing the sun. Life's too short not to choose the fast lane. Carpe diem!
