ESTABLISHED IN 1964, TEXT BOOK CENTRE is the brainchild of two dynamic businessmen, Mr. S.V. Shah and the late Mr. M.J. Rughani, descendants of Indian traders who settled in Kenya in the early part of the last century.
Recognizing the insatiable demand for education among the growing Kenyan population, then increasing at over 4%, the two correctly anticipated the potential in marketing educational materials and books.
TEXT BOOK CENTRE, or TBC as it is well known, opened the business in Kijabe Street, Nairobi, in premises of 5000 sq. ft. Today TBC is transforming itself into a vibrant, modern professional Co. Two more retail outlets opened in Sarit Centre Shopping Mall, in the suburb of Westlands, taking the Retail area to approximately 40,000 sq. ft.
TBC Today is the major supplier of schoolbooks, stationery, computer supplies, office equipment, and educational materials to both primary & secondary levels at schools, the tertiary level to colleges, universities and professional Institutes, international organizations, Government and Non-Government organizations countrywide, as well as to customers all over East Africa.
The future looks bright, as TEXT BOOK CENTRE’S strategies — reflected in the company’s motto “MORE THAN JUST A BOOKSHOP” — keeps it ahead

Text Book Centre is an educational and office supplies conglomerate. The firm’s core activity is to supply of education, general books, and educational material, including stationery supplies to professionals, schools, colleges, universities, international organizations, and non-government and government organizations countrywide and to buyers in Uganda, Sudan, Somalia, Malawi, Zanzibar, and Tanzania. It’s a bookstore that I have been going to since my University days till now and adulting is catching up! Founded many years ago TBC has tremendously grown to become the leading bookstore in Kenya. My favorite brunch is at the junction mall, Well, I had the pleasure of attending the launch many years ago and let me tell you, one word I can use to describe my experience is STUNNED! I had such a grand time there, I had to come back the next day just because I needed to experience that feeling all over again. Another one of my favorite TBC brunches is located along Kenyatta Avenue on the ground floor of 680 Hotel, the prime central location makes it so convenient and accessible it’s hard to miss; and when you look through the window as you walk by you can’t help but just walk in. From time to time they have offers and deals that keep me glued to their social media platforms, from fictional books as low as Ksh. 600, to kids’ books for as little as KSH. 100. Not to mention, TBC pricing is always fair and affordable so you know why I take advantage! The TBC store is stunning. Compact, brightly lit, well stocked, and arranged shelves for easy access. And if you can’t find what you’re looking for, the lovely staff are there on the ground to help at any point!

Textbook center, don’t let the name make you think it’s just only for books. They deal in a lot of products. Office Stationery. School Stationery. Desk Items. Exercise Books. Files & Binders. Markers. Note Books & Diaries. Those are just a few. They also have computer accessories. I’ve been to the one at Galleria mall and when you see galleria mall you’ll know there’s parking there. The staff were helpful when I was looking for a few things within the store. It is a good place to shop for stationary and school text books. Wide variety of stationary and books especially for children. Text books for international schools also available. They can make orders from international publishers if need be. Good parking space secure. Eateries available just next to it and other retail shops. Textbook center is spacious and clean. You get a lot of stuff under one roof with tbc

The branch that I often visit is the one at Garden City Mall especially when looking for books since I’m a bookworm as well as when shopping for my little brother who is still in school. The place is smaller in comparison to their other branches. This is a great place to shop for stationery, school, home and office supplies, computers and a few other electronics. The advantage of this place is that their is ample parking at the mall as well as security making it a very secure location to shop. Service delivery is fast except during school opening period when there is always a queue. Their staff are also friendly. In addition, they regularly update their catalog with latest editions of books. They also provide delivery services. Their prices are slightly higher compared to other book stores

I have always been a lover of books and more often that not always have my nose in a book or two so the opening of the Text Book Centre Flagship Store was the greatest news for a die hard book lover like me. This store is located in Sarit Centre is is relatively bigger than the other stores. The great thing about Text Book Centre is that there is something for everyone, you definitely can’t walk in and lack a book that suits your preferences. Finding books in here is quite easy because the sections are well labelled this easening the process of finding your way around. The brown and white theme coloured building has numerous sections including the kids section, spiritual section, fiction section, motivation, general books section, higher education section among many more thus no surprise at the vast collection of books inside this store. Besides books Text Book Centre also sells paint and art materials at the paint section ( the Sarit centre paint section is always soo well stocked). Their Sarit Centre outlet even has comfortable benches and seats where you can hold book club meetings absolutely free! Having a nice quiet read here with a marvellous view of the mall is such a calming and much needed experience. The centre here also has a supervised kids chill zone section where you can leave your kid to read as you go about your errands in the mall without stressing about their safety. I visit this branch every two months to add onto my novel collection for over an year now and have not even come a bit close to finishing the books on their fiction section. You can also get to do your kid’s back to school shopping here since besides books, Text Book Centre sells stationary and office supplies. A visit here will make you want reignite that long lost abandoned reading culture.

This is usually my go to place right before school opens. Textbook centre is a chain of stores open all over the city. They have a branch at Garden City, Two Rivers, The Hub and also the junction. They are usually open from 8am -5pm. This store is well known for it wide range of products. They sell stationery any all school supplies. I normally frequent the branch at Garden City before my semester starts. This branch has excellent service and the staff are ready to help you find anything in the store. The books they sell are of very good quality and always in great condition. I got numerous art supplies here last month and even got free delivery for goods worth more than 2000KES. Their paint is legit!! This was very convenient for me. And everything was packed so nicely. The last book I got here was “The Art of Happiness” by Dalai Lama. They have cute notebooks for around 400KES. They sell a range of electronics like laptops and printers. I find their items affordable. This shop is a once stop shop for all your stationery requirements.

All your stationery needs under one roof. This chain of stores is known for its diverse range of books, art supplies and stationery. They have quite a number of branches e.g Galleria Mall, Garden City, Junction Mall, The Hub and Two Rivers. They also have delivery services on their website and have an ongoing offer of free delivery for any goods worth 2000KES. Their wide selection of items is what keeps me coming back. I mostly go there for art supplies and they have from sketchpad to canvas to brushes and even paint(acrylic too). The last book I got there was ‘Love in colour’ by Bolu Babalola. The book was in mint condition and well packaged. I also got it for 2050KES plus free delivery. I found that very continent. For the art supplies, I go there every once in a while and they are good quality. The staff are ready to assist and show you where the item you are looking for is. The store itself is nicely organized into sections so it’s easy to find your items. They also sell electronics like laptops, printers and cameras among other things. It’s definitely the place to go to for school stuff.

This is a chain store that acts as one of the largest sellers of books and all the stationery you could possibly need.It has several branches in Kenya and in whichever city you’d always be able to access them. Some of the branches I know of include:The one in Sarit Centre,Garden city,The hub ,Thika Road mall,Two rivers market and village Market .It has very flexible working hours. Most of the branches open from 9am and close at 7pm even on public holidays.I frequent this store because it services alot of my needs.Their inventory is wide and some of the things they have include:Textbooks, books, computers ,electronics, stationery, art supply, digital books, toys and lastly board games. Whatever author you’re interested in, they got you. I’ve frequented this place since I was small but the last book I bought here was “Becoming ” by Michelle Obama. It cost me around 2500kshs.The book was in perfect condition and well kept. The added advantage that this store presents is that they have online services where they can deliver whatever it is you need right to your door step.I find this highly convenient. They also have an on going offer on their online purchases where for products worth more than 2000kshs ,the delivery is absolutely free. For other purchases, the shipping charges to areas in Nairobi or around Nairobi is 250kshs. It’s definitely a one stop shop for all your educational needs.
