Nakuru is the newest city in Kenya thanks to the increasing development and, of course, the population. I’ve been in Nakuru most of my life and I must say, there has never been a more opportune time for businesses to grow in Nakuru. For businesses looking for spaces to rent or guys who just want to experience the “shopper’s dream”, here are the best malls in Nakuru.
1. Golden Life Mall
This is the most recent mall in Nakuru. It’s located along Nairobi-Kisumu road, some 5 minutes from the CBD. It’s huge and houses a number of businesses. If you wish to shop, there’s Chandarana Foodplus. If you wish to go on a date or a meeting and grab something to eat, there’s Origin Coffee Kenya. If you want to party, there’s Eaglesnest Lounge and Grill on the rooftop. This is a mall worth visiting if you’re in Nakuru.
2. WestSide Mall
WestSide Mall is fairly popular with guys who live in Nakuru and those who’ve visited. It’s also one of the oldest malls in Nakuru. Located within the CBD next to the Nairobi-Kisumu roundabout at KFA. It houses a number of businesses including Naivas Supermarket, Fidelity Insurance, KFC Nakuru, Bata, Java House (Westside Mall), and Safaricom. There’s a lot of parking space, but you’ll be changed depending on the amount of time you’re there. If you need a mall with everything under one roof, this is it.
3. Super Center
This mall is also quite old. It’s located along the Nakuru-Nairobi highway next to The Statehouse (in Nakuru) It’s huge and has tonnes of underground parking spaces and parking is free. The main store is Naivas Supermarket. There’s also Brade gate pizza, a beauty salon, a 7D cinema, and some liquor stores. The mall is convenient if you live in Milimani or want to shop while on your way to Nairobi without going to the CBD.
4. The Jennifer Riria Hub
This is a new mall in the heart of Nakuru. It’s located along Tom Mboya Street, opposite Hotel Cathy. It’s huge and looks like a spaceship (in my opinion) The downside is that there are not many businesses leasing space there. There’s a beauty shop, an insurance firm, and a liquor store. I think that if they can have a cinema there, it’ll open up the mall to lots of traffic. Let’s see what the future holds for the mall.
I am a charismatic 23-year-old student at the University of Nairobi. I enjoy traveling be it planned or impromptu. I also enjoy partying. I'll be there with a drink in my cup all through the night, chasing the sun. Life's too short not to choose the fast lane. Carpe diem!
