Finding a venue to host an evening dinner in Nairobi is hard, especially if you haven’t done that before. The venue not only has to be available on the given date but also needs to have all the facilities you’ll need for your dinner. Some venues specialize in business dinners while others in wedding receptions. This tends to limit your choices and also increases the demand for the venues. So, you often need to book months in advance and pay a non-refundable deposit to secure the venue. Recently I was helping in looking for a dinner venue so I made you a “Top 10 Venues to Host a Dinner in Nairobi” list.
1. Safari Park Hotel & Casino
Safari Park Hotel & Casino is the largest conference & events venue in Nairobi, Kenya and a household of international conferences in Africa. It has over 20 conference and meeting facilities. The Jambo Conference Centre is the largest facility of its kind in East and Central Africa South of Sahara with a capacity to hold over 1200 delegates. All these facilities and restaurants are perfect for large parties, business dinners and wedding receptions. The venue is large enough to host multiple events without you noticing. 2. Radisson Blu – Upperhill
Radisson Blu Hotel in Upperhill is the perfect venue for both small parties and large events. This hotel hosts some of the largest meeting spaces in Kenya. It has 14 meeting spaces with its largest, Mount Kilimanjaro Ballroom, capable of hosting up to 800 guests. All the venues are equipped with high-tech audio-visual equipment to help with presentations and high-speed internet. This 241-room 5-star hotel also has enough room capacity for your guests to rest once they are done with the dinner meeting.
3. Crowne Plaza – Nairobi
If you are looking for a venue to host either a wedding reception or a business dinner, Crowne Plaza is the perfect place to do that. This hotel plays host to 11 meeting and ballrooms and 3 restaurants, all perfect for hosting a dinner. Their largest ballroom can host up to 550 people. The hotel also has 206 rooms for your guests once they are done with their dinner party.
4. Movenpick Hotel – Nairobi
Movenpick is one of my favourite hotels for events and dinner parties due to its large selection of ballrooms and meeting rooms. The hotel has 20 meeting rooms and ballrooms combined. This means they have a room that can meet anyone’s standards. My favourite ballroom is La Mesa which is perfect for small parties and cocktail parties with its beautiful city views, comfortable sofas and board games. Their cocktail ballroom is also perfect if your gathering is too big for La Mesa.
5. Hemingways Nairobi
Hemingways Nairobi is arguably the best location for business dinners and conferences. Equipped with the latest communication and presentation technology, their conference facilities and meeting rooms are a stylish venue for board meetings, strategy sessions and away-days. They have 5 conference rooms within the hotel that host a maximum of six to seventy delegates. Every meeting room enjoys luxurious office furniture from large mahogany desks to comfortable executive seating and leather writing blotters. Their conference and meeting rooms are equipped with LCD projection screens, wireless Fibre internet connections and flip charts providing the highest level of functionality. This is why it makes it to my “Top 10 Venues to Host a Dinner in Nairobi” list.
6. The Tribe Hotel
Located right next to The Village Market Mall, The Tribe Hotel is my favourite venue for hosting dinners. The beautiful 5-star hotel has all the facilities you would need when hosting a dinner, including large event spaces that are perfect for fashion shows, cocktail dinners, parties and any event imaginable. The hotel’s beautiful garden and swimming pool are also perfect for outdoor dinners. The hotel also features a world-class spa that your guests can use and a helipad that makes transport convenient.
7. Trademark Hotel
Also located next to The Village Market, this hotel offers a large hall perfect for large gatherings and dinners. Hero restaurant is located on the 9th floor of this hotel and is perfect for small dinners. The menu in this restaurant is splendid and features a wide array of sushi. The rooftop swimming pool offers a panoramic view of the city and is perfect for cocktails.
8. Fogo Gaucho
Fogo Gaucho located on Waiyaki way is the perfect restaurant for hosting intimate dinners for up to twenty people. Its all-you-can-eat buffet makes it one of the more affordable options on my list for large groups of people. Here you will get to eat meat to your heart’s content. They also have amazing daily offers. One of my favourite offers is their birthday offer, where the birthday person gets to eat for free. Their meals are my favourite in Nairobi, which makes sense since they hire some of the best chefs in the city. I haven’t had a single mad meal here.
9. Urban Eatery
Urban Eatery is located in Westlands inside PWC Towers. This large restaurant is perfect for hosting large dinner parties with music. Its outdoor seating area is perfect if you intend to hire a deejay. This venue is arguably the best for events where you will need music, and people will be drinking alcohol and dancing. So, it’s perfect for birthday dinners and parties.
10. Zen Garden
If you wish to host your dinner party outdoors, then Zen Garden is a wonderful venue for that. The venue plays host to a beautiful large garden, two restaurants, and 5 meeting rooms. The venue also has staff who can help you plan and set up parties and dinners once you book the venue.
